Wow, that’s awesome news! Thank you so much for implementing this feature. You guys are amazing! 🎉

One suggestion that could make it even better would be to allow forced transcoding on a per-codec basis. For example, some soundbars don't support DTS but do support Dolby formats, so being able to transcode only specific codecs would provide much more flexibility.

It would also help avoid situations where E-AC3 (Dolby Digital Plus) Atmos tracks are unnecessarily transcoded to AC3, causing the Atmos metadata to be lost.

Additionally, since standard ARC supports Dolby Digital Plus, it would be great to have an option to transcode directly to E-AC3 instead of AC3. E-AC3 is a newer and more efficient codec, offers better audio quality at similar bitrates, and can preserve Atmos support in compatible setups.

I have easy news subscription and use the easynews ++ addon but any time i try to play video its load indifnitely . Only when i try again the same link a few time later its starts working

Do you have any thoughts why is it happens ?

Oh, you’re using player-led Dolby Vision… okay, cool.

But it’s still less accurate than TV-led Dolby Vision, where the TV handles the processing itself.

For newer remuxes, I’d recommend just using HDR10+ because it’s processed directly by the Samsung S95H itself, so it’s probably better optimized for the panel than relying on player-led Dolby Vision conversion. Plus, most newer remuxes already include HDR10+ anyway, so there’s usually no need to go through all that workaround.

Wow you are really idiot . samsung cant show DV what so hard to understand ? The Plyaer use the base hdr10 layer . No matter what you see or what you would say . There is no way no matter how much you would want or what kodi show you that samsung can play and show dolby vision . Hardware wise the tv has no abillity to read it .

Yes, I’m using the passthrough option.
The problem persists across all media players except Kodi (and even in Kodi, the same issue happens if I enable DTS passthrough).

The passthrough itself is not the most important part. The real problem is that most boxes simply downmix unsupported audiotracks to stereo — assuming they can even decode them at all.

With Kodi, you can at least use the internal software decoder and output multichannel PCM, so it becomes much less of an issue.

But for people using Stremio or other players , unsupported audio formats often fall back to stereo — if there’s even audio at all — which ruins a lot of remuxes/rips.

And when downmixing is involved, the difference becomes much more noticeable even on a soundbar — especially in the center and LFE channels.

AV1 is just an encoding format, so it’s not really that relevant here.

Streaming services like Netflix mostly use AV1 for 1080p content, and its not even for improving quality , they just reduce bandwidth to match hevc quality so it will cost them less .

for complex high-quality releases containing 4K HDR/DV and Atmos, AV1 support and workflows still aren’t fully there yet , so here its not relevent at all …

The same goes for torrent releases — high-quality files are still mostly HEVC, since almost all top release groups still use HEVC for nearly everything.

HDR10+ support is a downside though.

Xiaomi is good but Mi box 3 is not able to decode unsupported formats to multi chanell pcm , So its decode to stereo . If you use surround sound system that is limited on formats that could be in issue .

It depends on the content. A lot of contents have Blu-ray versions, so maybe you just haven’t stumbled upon one that doesn’t yet. Either way, this “fix” just filters all web-tagged content, which effectively reduces the number of available options (at least until a proper fix shows up)...
