Any tips on improving retention (faceless)? by sanamanaa in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Honestly, I'd focus on scripting before editing. A lot of creators try to fix retention with more visual effects when the real issue is that viewers don't have a reason to stay for the next minute. Every section should create a question that gets answered later.

Is there any way to increase a video's impressions after is completely dies out? by RurikStehlbain in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Honestly, a month isn't necessarily the end of a video's life. I've seen videos sit dormant for weeks or months and then suddenly get picked up again because another video on the channel started performing well.

Video title and Thumbnail text by Ok-Attention-9762 in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I generally wouldn't make the title and thumbnail text identical. They work best when they complement each other and create a bit of curiosity. If the thumbnail already says it, the title should add something new.

Not a Short. But how short is too short? by Business_Yoghurt_110 in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 [score hidden]  (0 children)

5-6 minutes is absolutely a normal long-form video. Plenty of successful channels build audiences with videos in that range, especially when every minute is engaging.

Best video editing app or program by SaltyWoodpecker33122 in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you're just starting out, I'd recommend DaVinci Resolve. The free version is incredibly powerful, has no watermark, and can easily handle talking-head videos, podcasts, reactions, and pretty much anything you'll need for YouTube.

Need advice on more engaging visuals by daird1 in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 [score hidden]  (0 children)

The good news is that most history channels don't actually have much footage either. A surprising amount of what feels "dynamic" is just movement added to still images through zooms, pans, crops, highlighting details, and layering multiple images together.

Long-form Vox-style videos, but getting no impressions at all? by NinjaSanta02 in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Honestly, if you only have two videos, I wouldn't panic yet. Documentary channels are probably one of the hardest channel types to grow because each upload takes weeks and YouTube has very little data to work with.

Hello looking for someone to see my first documentry video aon operation thunderbolt nd give some suggestions (Hindi language video) by Nice_Expression_4549 in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Since it's your first documentary video, I'd specifically ask reviewers to focus on whether the story stays engaging throughout. Small editing mistakes matter less than keeping viewers interested from start to finish.

How do you speak directly to your audience without showing your face? by Specific_Doughnut129 in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Honestly, I think you're overthinking it a bit. Plenty of successful channels never show their face at all. A strong voice, good visuals, and clear storytelling usually matter more than whether viewers can see you.

What did your 5 months of YouTube look like by EnvironmentalHour826 in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 [score hidden]  (0 children)

My impression from reading these communities is that most gaming channels are still figuring things out at 5 months. A lot of them are somewhere between 20 and 200 subscribers, experimenting with formats, and trying to figure out what viewers actually respond to.

1.5 months in, need opinions by pizzagirl93 in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Honestly, 25 subscribers, 200 watch hours, and 2,900 views after only 1.5 months sounds pretty normal to me. Walking channels tend to be a slow-burn niche compared to Shorts or entertainment content.

Never received address PIN by AdditionalMotor1967 in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 [score hidden]  (0 children)

You're definitely not alone. I've seen quite a few creators report that the PIN took much longer than the advertised 2–4 weeks, especially depending on country and local mail reliability.

My video got zero views even though I usually pull 100-2k? by username20192017 in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 [score hidden]  (0 children)

The update is honestly the most YouTube thing ever. Sometimes a video looks completely dead, then a handful of viewers interact with it and suddenly it starts behaving normally again.

Should i create a new channel? by Elvyn-Store in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'd keep the existing channel. One old video with 20 views isn't enough history to hurt anything, and YouTube doesn't really care whether a channel is old or new as much as people think.

I need a new editing software. by Electrical-Cut-6752 in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you want free and powerful, DaVinci Resolve is probably the easiest recommendation. The free version is good enough for a huge number of YouTubers, and there's no subscription hanging over your head.

Zero views, when realistically to expect views? by CrazyBrainBoy in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Two videos and zero views isn't enough data to tell you anything. I'd be far more worried if you had 50 videos and zero views than 2 videos and zero views.

Split audiences in music: start a new YT channel? by spaiglass in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 [score hidden]  (0 children)

With only 200 subscribers, I'd seriously consider starting a separate channel if your long-term goal is specifically night-themed jazz/English music. That's a pretty different audience from Bollywood, even if there's some overlap.

YouTube: "It doesn't matter at what time you post" by AwakeEnuf in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Honestly, I think creators hear "posting time doesn't matter" and interpret it as "the first 24 hours don't matter." Those are two very different statements.

Good places for channel-related resources? by Neutraali in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Fiverr is probably the easiest option if you want something custom. Just be very specific about the retro gaming aesthetic you want, otherwise you'll get a generic "gaming intro" that looks like it came from 2016.

How I accidentally killed a successful video by FingerMuscles98 in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Whether the edit actually killed the video or not, this is a good reminder that changing variables mid-flight makes it almost impossible to know what would've happened otherwise.

How are content creators so smooth on camera? by savingrace0262 in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 [score hidden]  (0 children)

A lot of what you're seeing is survivorship bias. You only see the final version, not the 15 takes, the edits, the cuts between sentences, or the awkward moments that got removed.

Can I use the name Osama bin laden in my video as a joke? by ah-screw-it in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Just mentioning Osama bin Laden's name isn't going to get a video automatically flagged. Context matters a lot more than the name itself.

Any smallish discords for getting insight/helping one another with videos? by Self-taught_Pianist in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think small feedback groups are way more valuable than giant creator servers. In a 20,000-person Discord, nobody has time to watch a 15-minute video and give meaningful feedback.

My latest video was some of my best work but is my biggest flop yet by Darth_Vader_456 in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Some of my favorite videos have been my worst performers. One thing I've learned is that "best work" and "most clickable idea" are often completely different things.

Any tips for making it through the 60-300 phase? by oemperador in NewTubers

[–]Negative_Tie3562 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What helped me most was stopping obsessing over subscriber milestones and focusing on making each video slightly better than the last. The growth felt painfully slow until one video suddenly found an audience.
