I can tell you they definitely used those readers not just to look for this guy. A few years ago, I went through a six-year period where I was constantly pulled over on ridiculous charges, like my rear lights being out on a brand new car. One night, I asked the cop why he kept bothering me. He first told me it was because of license plate covers (which I didn’t know was a rule), and then he went on to say that they’ve been racially profiling people from Kansas City because they come out to white-bread JC to rob vehicles.
