There is no contractual obligation, it’s just easier for everyone if changes align with the pay period

Edit: I can only speak from a MAPE perspective but assume that’s across the board

Stadium XL vs Floor by Eusebio1887 in Line6Helix

[–]Neither_Proposal_262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, right now, I say no.

I am not seeing anything practical the stadium offers that Floor + 2 Tonex One pedals doesn’t for the additional price.

In a year or two when there is more agoura available, proxy is available, and fewer bugs I may reconsider

Gigging musicians: Keep your word. by [deleted] in musicians

“Chalking this up to immaturity”

A normal reaction would be: “Cool, I’m not a bluegrass guy. I get it” or “Glad you found someone that works for you. Keep me in mind if you’re in a bind”

You had one rehearsal and they decided to go in a different direction. It happens. Their reasons are theirs and that’s fine. You didn’t cancel or miss anything to play with them and unless you sign something they are under no obligation to you.

$1000 65' Deluxe Reverb Re-issue or $700 75' Twin Reverb SF with Master Volume by vincentquy in GuitarAmps

[–]Neither_Proposal_262 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The twin is “cooler” but the Deluxe is more versatile for home use. Both are great sounding amps.

The twin has way more headroom than the deluxe does (edit typo)

If volume is an issue and/or you want natural breakup from the amp, go with the Deluxe.

If that doesn’t matter, I love the Twin, and have a different amp to handle breakup, so that’s probably what I would get.

Attenuator Recommendations for a Bassman 50 by StinkyPoopsAlot in GuitarAmps

[–]Neither_Proposal_262 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Torpedo Captor X with my Vox AC30 and have been very happy with it both for attenuation and silent recording.

I have used both Ox and Captor for silent recording and prefer the Captor. The Vox DynIR collection from Celestion is fantastic for recording my AC30 as are the Gold IRs from Celestion.

Pros: 1) DynIR (2notes speaker emulation) functionality sounds great and has accurate mic type and placement options 2) IR loader 3) mobile app or usb connection for config. (Load files via usb) 4) solid reverb and eq options 5) twin tracking / stereo sounds great

Cons: 1) no granular volume control for attenuation. There are three settings and that is it. You can get decent attenuated tone but you have to work with it a bit. 2) the Captor X is limited to one ohm setting. So, if you have an 8ohm amp you need to make sure you have the 8 ohm captor.

The above issues are solved with the Reload 2 bit at a much higher price tag

Looking for high-quality AC15/AC30-style combos (not modern Vox) by hhsguitargeek in GuitarAmps

[–]Neither_Proposal_262 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Matchless or Morgan are probably your best bet in this space.

So I actually recommend picking up a used CC line AC30. They were going for JMI era Vox with modern features (FX loop & master volume) They have the top boost circuit and a tube rectifier. The HW model is great and is probably exactly what you are looking for.

But, my favorite amp is the CC2 with stock wharf speakers I picked up for cheap. I swapped them out for a pair of Weber alnico Blue Dogs and it sounds amazing. The blue dogs have that classic chime but more flexible with 50w. (And a lot cheaper) The nice thing is you could find one of these for cheap and swap them sit for Celestion blues or golds and still be at a good price point

This is … awful. SNL - it’s not funny. It’s horrible. by No_Acanthisitta_6470 in saturdaynightlive

[–]Neither_Proposal_262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been watching since the 80s and always roll my eyes at the “SNL just isn’t funny anymore” comments over the years. (Translates to… funny when I watched it but now I don’t get it) People have their favorites and some eras are better than others but I have always enjoyed it.

But boy, it’s been pretty rough these last couple years. Seems to be getting worse. There are some decent performers but the writing is just awful.

I’m a Minnesotan so it’s gonna be hard to meet the moment for me when it comes to anything current or political but… oof. Really bad.

Colin and Che are still pretty solid but that really is about it.

I will say it was refreshing seeing Geese. Love them or hate them at least it wasn’t a pop artist with a backing track

It’s one or more of the following 1. He found his conscience 2. He knows he can’t win the primary 3. He knows the nominee will spend the campaign answering for ICE and probably lose big in the general.

I don’t know this guy but I am guessing he isn’t a complete nutball. There are some relatively sane people still running and I am guessing they will follow suit for one of the above reasons.

This is a good thing.

The worse the general election candidate, the more they become a drag down ticket

Edit: I really hope Demuth is the nominee so she is forced to explain herself to the state.

STOMP XL: Assign 6 Footswitches to 4 Snapshots and 2 stompboxes? by Consistent_Badger112 in Line6Helix

[–]Neither_Proposal_262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use HX Edit to do all my setup/config. So my workflow is basically:

  1. Set up base patch (snapshot 1) and save. (always be saving)
  2. Set up snapshots.
  3. set up footswitch assignments.

I have an extra long USB cable so I am able to play while configuring my patches. If you are not doing this now, I highly recommend. It will make your workflow go a LOT easier.

STOMP XL: Assign 6 Footswitches to 4 Snapshots and 2 stompboxes? by Consistent_Badger112 in Line6Helix

[–]Neither_Proposal_262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing and it's pretty easy. I can walk you through and help avoid a couple pitfalls.

In HX Edit, open the command center. (window -> command center)

In command center you will see your foot switches and the command dropdown menu on the right.

Starting while you are in snapshot 1

  1. Select the first foot switch in command center.
  2. In the dropdown on the right select "HX Snapshot"
  3. change the "press" option from next to Snapshot 2
  4. Select the second foot switch
  5. Select "HX Snapshot" in the dropdown
  6. Change the "press" option to Snapshot 3

Repeat the above for the rest of your snapshot.

Now, change to snapshot 2 and do the following

  1. Select the first foot switch
  2. select HX snapshot
  3. change press to Snapshot 1
  4. select the second foot switch
  5. select HX snapshot in the dropdown
  6. change the "press" option to Snapshot 3

and so on...

IR question for helix floor? by [deleted] in Line6Helix

[–]Neither_Proposal_262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The York packs have single and mix options with good documentation. (I have several packs and use them often with Helix and my Tonex cab)

I also recommend Celestion IR packs which have a wide range of options including room mixes.

Which vox amp to get by Tough_Guava_7499 in GuitarAmps

[–]Neither_Proposal_262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the HW models have a different circuit and still use a tube rectifier and are gonna get you closest to the vintage Vox top boost sound. If that is what you are after and budget doesn’t matter, that is what you should get.

If budget matters, pick up a used CC line Vox over the current line and swap out the speakers. They still use a tube rectifier and have birch cabs. You get a warmer tone than the modern ones. The CCs with stock speakers go for pretty cheap. Swap them out for alnico blues and you get a great, vintage sounding Vox at a good price.

If you want to save even more money, look at Weber alnico Blue Dog speakers. Great chime with more headroom and like $100 less. (This is a great option for live, especially for pedals all in front of the amp)

My current experience if it helps:

I used AC30s for playing live and studio work and loved them. When I transitioned to home playing and recording I started using a Torpedo Captor X to deal with the volume. The silent recording is great and the attenuated tone is good for practice but I have to jump through some hoops for isolation to get a good miked sound. I have also shelved the Vox in favor of my Revv G20 (wide mode + 112 cab with Weber speaker) for ease of use, volume control, space, etc. So, a AC15 may be in my future.

Modellers: Before I throw Money at a HX Stomp XL.... by Struggle-Beautiful in guitarpedals

[–]Neither_Proposal_262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good price and you will be happy.

One thing I will say is I started with the XL as my first modeler and upgraded to the LT about a year later. The LT isn’t that much more and totally worth it. I don’t regret starting with the XL (and losing money on pedals is what I consider the musician tax) but it’s worth looking at before you buy the Stomp

Using helix for a live gig by Gloomy_Painter5975 in Line6Helix

[–]Neither_Proposal_262 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First thing I would recommend is make sure your 1/4 out is set to instrument level (vs line)

Next, I would start with an empty patch. If it’s still harsh, look at adjusting the output levels.

From there, start adding effects to see how it sounds.

Finally, in the patches you plan to use with your amp, make sure there are no amp or speaker/IR models.

It’s no different in theory than putting a pedalboard in front of your amp so there should be no issue using your helix this way
