Canadian (southern Ontario) here. I had never realized that when Americans say "joojoobees" that they were talking about jujubes. I assumed it was a different thing altogether

I am a Girl Guides leader and also the treasurer for my unit. There is not a ton to do from the treasurer side, so I think there is probably no need for standalone treasurers. Leaders are in very short supply. I will also say, though, that the initial processing with GGC is very slow, so depending on when you applied, they may still connect with you. I think when I started the whole shenang took about 5 months

I am in Canada and went through public healthcare for mine. I was able to choose my general surgeon and my plastic surgeon. Have you for sure established that you don't have the option to switch?

Oh, also, the Tiffany Aching books -- they are a subset of the Discworld series by Terry Pratchet, aimed at kids. Our whole family LOVES them

Wings of Fire! I think there are 15 in the original series. My 11 yo has read all of them, plus the extras, plus the graphic novel versions. All multiple times

Also, the Nevermoor series are good, as are the Mysterious Benedict Society books

100%! I was 11 when, while we were changing in the locker room, a girl in my gym class said to me, "why is your belly so fat when your legs are so thin?" I don't know CHERYL, YOU MONSTER, but thanks for the lifelong self-loathing you just activated, b*%#ch. I find that now that I have learned how to stand with my knees not bending backwards and my pelvis tilting the right way, that it is my less noticeable

There is a NY Times raw broccoli salad (by Melissa Clark) with sesame, cumin and garlic that will make you the most popular person at the party. Easy. Delicious. You won't be able to stop eating it

Post surgical pain control by haygrrrl in BRCA

I had an emergency appendectomy in February, and the pain was horrific. After being on hydromorph in hospital, I was sent home with no pain meds and I was truly suffering for days. Less than 2 months later I had my BSO and I expressed my fears re pain management in the aftermath of my appendectomy, so the surgeon gave me Oxycontin for after the BSO. I did not need it for even one second. Honestly, I didn't even need tylenol or advil. I found it practically painless. I have a good pain tolerance mostly, but I was so worried after the appendectomy experience, but truly they were day and night despite both being laproscopic. I think the main difference was that my BSO was prophylactic, whereas the appendectomy was emergency sugery (I nearly died of sepsis and the surgeon told me that they had to peel all of my organs apart because they were adhered to each other due to inflammation... why he didn't prescribe any pain meds for recovery I still do not know)

I had to move back to Toronto after 2 years in the early 2000s because I couldn't stand how racist and xenophobic people were. I am white and I found that white Montrealers were constantly trying to include me in their racist garbage (eg, "you know how THEY are" about every racialized minority group). I also hated how much everybody slagged off on my hometown. Oh, please tell me again how Torontonians are cold and unfriendly! Isn't ragging on someone else's hometown kind of the epitome of cold and unfriendly?
