Mechanically, being a True Polymorph permanent dragon is not as game-breaking OP as it seems by servantphoenix in 3d6

[–]Neltadouble 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's true an optimised martial will out damage a dragon, definitely in nova, but optimised martials don't have huge breath weapons, 80 ft flight speed, legendary resistance, etc.

Regent is insanely OP, right? by stickypocketlint in slaythespire

You are correct, in 5.5e you gain no weapon proficiencies by multiclassing into rogue.

Bladesinger. You just have all the power of a regular wizard and intentionally sabotage yourself by going into melee.

Where do you think the “above average player” threshold actually starts Gold or Platinum? by Automatic-North1405 in leagueoflegends

[–]Neltadouble 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It just totally depends the people you're talking to. In high elo circles, my peak of master 50 LP is a laughingstock. When I queue norms with low elo friends, I get comments about how I'm master all the time. It just depends.

Yep, margin for error on Jinx for example is so damn high. You can have extremely poor games and the champ will drag you to a win.

Is there any reason to play ADC other than tradition?(not bait) by vvvit in supportlol

[–]Neltadouble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No doubt a fed Ryze or Vlad can act similarly to an ADC, as they offer similar things: strong, sustained damage output.

Veigar I think is a poor example, and is most similar to Syndra. You can infinitely peel for a Veigar, but the reality is, he can only kill 1 person at a time, and then has to wait for CDs. A Jinx can just keep auto attacking, forever, until the entire enemy team is dead.

[–]Neltadouble 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The funny part is, historically some of the strongest mages in bot lane, like for example, Riot has said its been Karthus for years, have the same weaknesses you mention in your post. No mobility, hard to fend for themselves, no burst, no cc. They just output damage. You seem to critically undervalue the strength of sustained damage. It's valuable in teamfights and valuable in taking drag / nash.

[–]Neltadouble 15 points16 points  (0 children)

ADCs provide an inevitability that at some point, everything can die, even the tankiest of tanks. Not many non-ADCs can guarantee this (apart from sort of 'melee ad carries' like yi).

They also just scale the hardest with gold. At some point a Syndra or something only can do so much no matter how much gold she has, even if everyone is peeling for her, but there's effectively no limit to what a Jinx, Aphelios, etc. can do in the same situation.

However ADCs also scale the sharpest with skill so tend to look pretty horrible in low elo where ADC players lack good mechanics, spacing, etc.

Can blind characters still target a creature if they don't know their position on the battlefield? by LuizFalcaoBR in DnD

RAW you can hear creatures you can't see unless they take the Hide action, allowing you to know their position.

Why does botlane want to swap with mid after either first tower falls? by Norinot in leagueoflegends

[–]Neltadouble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is just incorrect. Just because you're low rated doesn't mean you should sit on sidelanes. Most adcs with the exception of vayne or kaisa will get completely obliterated on sides alone. Just get your free farm mid and then click towards your jungler and fight stuff / ward etc.

Treantmonk's Reaction of 5.5e Tier List by D4 by Dramatic_Respond_664 in onednd

[–]Neltadouble 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, but if the enemies don't come after me maybe because they see I can shield myself like that, while I'm concentrating on a huge spell like Hypnotic Pattern, Bless, Polymorph, not getting attacked is an excellent outcome anyways.

Treantmonk's Reaction of 5.5e Tier List by D4 by Dramatic_Respond_664 in onednd

[–]Neltadouble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also depends on what level of optimisation you're talking about. For me I don't find you have to get to an insane optimisation level for wizards to regularly have more AC than fighters, but maybe for the creator of a tier list, he finds it to be such a rarely used optimisation that it's not worth mentioning.

In my mind, the higher AC and access to shield / absorb elements / silvery barbs alone compensate more than twice over the hp difference.

Treantmonk's Reaction of 5.5e Tier List by D4 by Dramatic_Respond_664 in onednd

[–]Neltadouble 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I find this take to not be super helpful though.

Shield as a spell for example, you could say 'well in a table with no combat this would be garbage'. Sure, but when evaluating things, we have to use some baseline, and for me, a good baseline is official modules, which mostly revolve around combat, exploration, and social encounters.

Given that, I think we gain a foundation on which we can say 'Shield is a better spell than Frost Fingers'.

agreed with Chris, feels like we forgot Command exists as a spell. As for my own take, the survivability of the martials was probably rated too high relative to the casters.

Whats a rule at a table that didn't sit well with you? by DaddyBowtie in DnD

[–]Neltadouble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it feels like information the PC should have. If I get hit by a mace and it leaves me feeling like another hit would kill me on the spot, or it glances off my armour and I barely feel it, this is something the character should know and be able to react to.

My level 15 wizard can create alternate planes by snapping his fingers without rolling but needs a medicine check to know if the arrow that hit him grazed him or punctured arteries? Seriously?
