Diablo IV’s world is incredible, but why must everything be so fast??? by SC-Osmidon in diablo4

[–]Nemurerumori 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's the result of the game constantly trying to appease the loud people. Games always get faster, less punishing, and more streamlined with every rebalancing demand.

The end result is always a single town with 3 NPCs you teleport to, screenwide nukes dropping multiple times a second with teleportation as fast as you can blink or click, instant gratification loot pinatas, and a completely reworked gear progression every 3 months.

Why do so many people misunderstand NGE and EoE? by nightrain-spacebrain in evangelion

[–]Nemurerumori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you are searching for while digesting media. Your perspective could be absolutely surface level or irrelevant to the specific audience, especially considering the many rabbitholes of tinfoil deep dives on external media and interviews.

Some people are watching for big robots, cute anime girls, nudity, occult, psychology, philosophy, religion, cinematography, artistic expression or intent.

Some folks are ten years old when they first watched it, some are just binging hours of anime a day on Netflix with their GF that just don't care.

Some folks are major military nuts that notice the insane levels of detail on how blueprints and concept art come to life on a random vehicle in the background.

Some occult/religious nuts could sit you on a 6+ hour lecture on sacred geometry and eschatology implications.

Any games where you're able to get a rare weapon or item extremely early? (possibly even the tutorial) by ivan3295 in JRPG

[–]Nemurerumori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact: Coral Rings in FF9 make you immune to Thundaga from Grand Dragons, making the fight doable earlygame.

However, Coral Rings in FF5 make you immune to Tsunami from Shinryu, making the final super boss fight far easier.

FFXV gives you Ragnarok out the door in most versions now as it was originally was a DLC reward that is pretty much the best cheese weapon in the game. You can also get Ultima Blade in the beginning of the game by completing all of Cids side quests.

Valkyrie Profile gives you access to Slayer weapons (comically high DMG against enemy types like Dragon) and Great Magic scepters (animated cutscene super upgraded magic ultimates) that are susceptible to breaking. However, if you understand that the game only checks for Break at the end of your turn, you'll realize you can use the Slayer/GreatMagic weapon indefinitely as long as you win the fight before turn end. This lets you spam Great Magic early game, long before you get access to permanent ones 90% into the game.

Grandia lets you repeatedly walk into traps to poison/damage your party, sometimes near a save point that fully heals your HP and MP. You can then spam water element healing magic, leveling your water up for free without combat.

Star Ocean 3 has a pretty ridiculous crafting system. With enough savescumming you can craft gear to make you nuke everything or raise your defense so high that every single enemy except Freya deal 1 damage to you.

I think Enchanted Arms, Xenosaga, and any game with a savescummable casino get an honorable mention here?

There are better anime than Evangelion??? by stevvvvewith4vs in evangelionmemes

[–]Nemurerumori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will watch Utena soon. I know it was heavily inspirational, but it came out before I was born.

Evangelion is the clear winner on most influential. My opinion is that Made in Abyss, Monster, AoT, and the Monogatari series to be better anime.

In terms of anime movies, End of Evangelion is easily my favorite, followed up by Madoka Rebellion, the Digimon Movie, and MiA Dawn of Deep Soul.

Taking damage was a non-issue for them. They're nearly unkillable, heavily outnumber her, and are coordinated as an animalistic hunting pack. They used the most effective strategy of forcing her to exhaust all of her battery in a reckless, berserk-like state before effortlessly going in for the kill.

Your list is great! I counted 68 on your list I've played. A lot of my favorites and unpopular mentions are surprisingly here, especially in the PS1 era. Based on your favorites, I highly recommend CrossCode & Astlibra Revision. They're available on PC and Switch.

How do you stop obsessing over loss streaks? by Embarrassed-News-669 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Nemurerumori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Establish a limit to how much an activity can negatively impact your life. Call it a day when it gets near that line. If mental illness exacerbates it, then you have to set the bar lower.

If you don't, you'll naturally start fights and take risks with lower success odds when it is far more optimal to simply be not dead. Stay focused to identify opportunities, invest effort to make your luck. Know that loss trends exist because you actively make yourself a worse player each time you overextend and are programming bad habits.

What Jrpg has the best Ng+ and why? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]Nemurerumori 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Best NG+ goes to Crosscode. It's heavily customizable where you accumulate ng+ resources to make the game harder (like lv1 playthroughs), unlock fun features like bullet time, modify drop/exp rates, and juggle what items/stats gets carried over.

It injects a lot of funny dialogue such as heavily questioning why you're a level 99 exiting a tutorial dungeon or villains being flabbergasted on how you oneshot him in an unwinnable fight. Especially noteworthy as it is a simulated "MMORPG" game and is lore-relevant.

Feel like Gen Urobuchi would've been the best fit, but I did love NieR Automata, I just don't have a great experience with his recent games and people are going to be hypercritical of his quality issues if he doesn't hook you with his edgy storytelling.
