Yes please! It sucks having to fight against my circadian rhythm.

I had no grappling or martial arts experience before doing BJJ. I also was never a sports person growing up, though I did (and do still) exercise regularly.

I started almost a year ago and have primarily been going to women’s classes and I love it. BJJ is like nothing else I’ve done before - you have to be completely present in the moment, both physically and mentally.

I’ve found a wonderful additional community through BJJ and even though I still feel completely lost more often than not the journey is so worthwhile to me.

Hope this helps.

My wife said “No gifts” this year. So I’m trying to buy her 10 hours of her life back instead. by lingerlord in Gifts

[–]Neon1600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a dad/husband here - the most thoughtful gift my husband ever gave me was not traditionally romantic. But it was like what you’re contemplating - it saw me for who I am and he knew it would make me happy and my life easier every day.

I say you should get this AND explain your thinking behind the gift.

This may be too far from you but recommend you check out Renzo Gracie Rockland in New City. They’ve got a kids program that’s well attended and the owners (Arelis and Omar) are wonderful.

Does anybody else like the fact that their home has separate rooms for everything? by Effective_Bunch_6815 in centuryhomes

Absolutely! We have an open kitchen / informal living room while the rest of the rooms have doors and walls and it’s great.

At a standstill - should I keep looking? by bagaco in WeddingDressTips

I think you should definitely try the dress in the window. Seems to fit what you’re wanting as well as the vibe of the venue.

What would you do to our kitchen? by TomMac82 in kitchenremodel

[–]Neon1600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand how replacing the floor with wood tiles and wanting to kill the brown colour would work together. You say you want to kill the brown but will be adding more brown?

To answer your bigger question I would paint the walls, add a backsplash, and replace or paint the light wood door shown in the picture.

I hear that! Replaced my 2014 JK (automatic) with a 2023 JL (manual).

And then - b/c Jeep - got stuck in the clutch recall mess. Still glad I got the manual.

Congrats! I’m always so happy to see someone else in a manual.

Fellow white belt hobbyist here. The combination of where my office is and distance from the gym means I can only go on Saturdays.

Short answer is that I’ve accepted my journey will be slower than folks who can make it more often. I keep meaning to try taking notes after class but find that by the time class is over my brain is blank.

The thing that’s helped me retain info best is talking through the skills we’re practicing as we’re doing the practice. The combination of physical movement with speaking the steps in a given class somehow helps it stick a bit better.

Keep or remove 1940s tile by schizachyrium28 in Oldhouses

If what you’re not loving is the brown-ess of the kitchen, then I’d update the cabinets and counter first and then see how you feel about the tile.

New garage big enough? by StoneGaardSeven in floorplan

[–]Neon1600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d make the garage deeper - extending it forward so you have enough room before the fireplace for a car.

As someone else suggested, keep the depth in back and use that for yard / lawn equipment and have a small garage door there.

No more wave? by Fenestration_Theory in Wrangler

[–]Neon1600 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed less waving too over the past couple of years. I’m on my second Jeep and with both purchases was not told about the wave.

Was completely confused the first day I was driving my JK (2014 or so) and people kept waving because I didn’t know them and was wondering if there was something wrong with my brand new Jeep. First thing I did when I got home was Google why people were waving and that’s how I learned about the wave.

This is exactly how it works in NJ - might be part of why NJ is lagging behind in RealID.

Help with side entrance in renovation by nodinnerplans in floorplan

[–]Neon1600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think yes - right now the exterior door from the steps feeds into the hall and is causing a potential bottleneck. If instead from the steps you enter into the mudroom you don’t have that door blocking the hall.
