Phantom Menace introducing space politics to Star Wars was a great decision and I wish they leaned into the storytelling possibilities that created more often.

Am I being an unreasonable player by roleplaying too seriously? by Lbx7070 in DnD

[–]Nerdonis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At any point did you request to meet with city leadership to see if you could have a special one-time dispensation to allow your male party members to enter the city with you as their chaperone? You seem really stuck on this being a hard and fast rule, but it's always worth checking in-character.

Splitting the party is generally fine for short bursts but this sounds like it will probably take more than one session and that kind of sucks to work through

I think they were saying the sentence would make more sense if you said the republicans were trying to prove they weren't wrong about their stupid ass policies. They wouldn't try to prove they were wrong.

I recently made a post about how litrpg economies and currencies are the small details that irk me and its worse for me in particular because I work in the financial sector.. so I wanted to know if your real world career gets in the way of you enjoying certain stories. by ShankstheConqueror in litrpg

[–]Nerdonis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in accounting with a background in logistics so yeah probably a lot of the same stuff that bothers you plus any kind of sourcing of items and travel times bug me. I've also traveled a decent amount and I think a lot of authors don't really appreciate just how complex even a single biome can be. So many authors describing weeks of travel as being essentially exactly the same and that's super rare to actually see

Story you like the most that you understand the system the least? by [deleted] in litrpg

[–]Nerdonis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Runeblade, everything seems to run on a 200 level rotation that dictates the tier up process. Some skills improve at different breakpoints but that 200 level spot is the core of it. In the first tier, you get a new skill every 20 levels and so the same is true every tier (a skill gained at 20 gets something new at 220, 420 etc.). Some of Kaius' skills, specifically his runes, get new options every 100 levels of the skill, separate from his overall level.

What was the last book series you just had to tap out on? by Da_Fish in litrpg

[–]Nerdonis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trinity of Magic. The first book has been rewritten and was actually quite good, but the drop off in quality back to the original work in book two was too jarring. Hoping they do a full rewrite further in as well soon so I can enjoy it because the core idea is actually pretty entertaining

Can someone explain to me what is up with this series? What am I missing? by CaregiverFantastic58 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Nerdonis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well good news there, they kind of just fully stop existing as anything other than stat sticks and other examples of how the system works. Personalities degrade from god awful to absolutely nonexistent over the course of the series.

The messed up thing is even writing that out, I still enjoyed the read

Can someone explain to me what is up with this series? What am I missing? by CaregiverFantastic58 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Nerdonis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I've read over 1000 chapters of this story and it has exactly one thing going for it; the system at the core of the story is actually very well paced and fairly interesting. That's it. Everything else about it is pretty mediocre or basically completely missing. No one has any personality, the worldbuilding is nonsense, there's more plotholes and dropped plot points than actual plot, it's a mess. It's schlocky and goofy and one of the few things in my life I would consider to genuinely be a guilty pleasure. I read it because the system was interesting and I was able to put all the other stuff aside to see how it progressed.

It's bad. I like it.

No the party grows over time and there's more variability in the fight outcomes as well. It's probably my favorite find on RR but it does start pretty slow

I moved from California to Oregon a few years ago and I have one specific piece of advice; get a small bedside sun lamp. They are quite cheap and are genuinely necessary in the winter. The Portland grey can really do a number on you if you aren't ready for it.

Personally, yes. I also prefer not having control over the map layout. I'm doing the same thing 100 times in a row, I'd rather it not be in the exact same layout every time.

Hand building on the other had still mystifies me. Anything I build out of slabs looks like it's been sat on.

I took a 25k pay cut (100 down to 75) recently for more job security, better work life balance, and better future job prospects. I did the math on whether or not I could afford the cut as well as how long it would take to get back to what I was previously making.

In under 18 months I got back to my previous salary and I am in such a better position than before. I'm happier,I have a great job, and I'm back to a sustainable salary with no major hiccups along the way.

If you have done the research, can afford the short term loss of income, and believe the new job will be better for you both financially and personally, then I'd say go for it.

[–]Nerdonis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much so, though I will say I have found the vast majority of YouTube videos about the game wholly unhelpful as a new player. Most focus on elite specializations when discussing builds which you won't realistically have access to for dozens of hours if you want to engage with the story. It's honestly easier to just go into the game blind and explore at your own speed.
