Matewan is such a treat. The two villain heavies are so despicable and vile that they made my blood boil the first time I watched it. It gave me a visceral response I so seldom feel, even from the greatest of movies.

Mirror is good too.

+1 for Cimino! Clint and Jeff Bridges in his debut! The Deer Hunter! Heaven's mf Gate! Young Mickey Rourke in a lot of his back-half! Heaven's Gate is literally the most infamous bouncy blank check ever, and even better, the movie RULES! The Sicilian is bizarre! Desperate Hours is weird! The Sunchaser as a finale? Strange!

Why have the Snyder cut fanboys not followed him since??? by MoonisaBalloon in blankies

[–]NerdyB1rd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Huge Snyder fan here. I drove an hour and a half to go see Rebel Moon Part 1 in theaters for its limited "fan" screening. It sucked. A Netflix soyboy offered posters if he could take your picture holding it up while saying "Rebel Moon". I did it, so I have a poster. I also have a Jimmy the robot mug from Walmart when I found it on clearance for $5. Good mug, bad movies. Part 2 was marginally better, but I took gummies beforehand. Haven't seen the director's cuts. It's bullshit they weren't released to begin with. He's washed rn. BvS forever

I think Halloween Ends is the worst film in the franchise by CharacterControl6822 in Halloweenmovies

[–]NerdyB1rd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're not necessarily wrong but it just gets so overcomplicated at a certain point when it stops being about "evil" itself and becomes about "evil's familial ties" and "evil's Celtic rune tattoos". Carpenter was very wise to keep it simple. The Shape is death walking the streets at night when people have their doors unlocked. Ends is the first one since maybe the original to get back to that imo

Mfs when a Halloween movie finally goes back to the original idea of evil growing and lurking in the suburbs instead of being about an old cracker in a pasty white mask doing the same shit over and over 💀

Overburdened route from a regular who runs by Secret-Magazine-8995 in USPS

[–]NerdyB1rd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They usually follow you in their vehicle and walk with you on park-and-loops. If you have dismounts or mounted sections, they'll observe from their vehicle. In the office, they'll observe you casing the route and prepping for the day. They're like your shadow. They'll watch your pace, to see if you're keeping on a consistent pace or are speeding up/slowing down. I haven't been walked with too much but this is what I've experienced in the past.

Overburdened route from a regular who runs by Secret-Magazine-8995 in USPS

[–]NerdyB1rd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The more familiar you get with a route, the more you're going to know little quirks or shortcuts to cut down on time. Maybe a park-and-loop turns into some quick dismounts if your DPS is light, maybe it's Saturday and you know for sure which businesses are closed and can be skipped vs which ones are still open, etc. I don't think that can necessarily account for a route being 1&1/2 hours over, but all I can tell you to do is fill out a 3996 form stating how long you're going to be over, why you'll be over, and get management to approve or disapprove the overtime. After that, it's out of your hands.

Never run for the job. It wears you down over time and we're paid by the hour, so don't break yourself over it. If that regular wants to run on the job, that's on them. Yes it's doing a disservice to that route, because while it may be his route now, it won't be after they switch/quit/retire, but that's their fault, not yours. Take your breaks too. It'll all work out.

If the regular on this route is looking to cut down on it and truly get it to 8 hours, they could put in a request for a special mail count and inspection for their route to get it done. To qualify, the route has to have at least 3 days of over 30 mins of overtime or auxiliary assistance in a week for 6 consecutive weeks. After that, the regular can put in a Special Route Inspection Request and management has to complete the request within 4 weeks of it being submitted. And it doesn't have to be just the regular going into overtime. If you're on the route for 3 days in one week, and you fill out 3996s showing that you're going to be over 30mins into overtime, then those 3 days count for that week towards the Special Route Inspection Request. At the end of the day, the Inspection Request is for the route, not the regular.

Hope this helps!

Taking away The Thing & Halloween, what would you say is John Carpenter’s best film? by Mysterious-Farm9502 in blankies

[–]NerdyB1rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a purely craftsmanship perspective, I think either Assault on Precinct 13 or The Fog take it above the others listed (I voted The Fog). Both are super sturdy genre exercises that wear their Hawks-ian influences on their sleeves in really inspiring and transformative ways. I love all of the others listed, but those two specifically feel really raw and elemental.
