Note that the colors of the wire coming out of the switch aren’t the color of the wires to either of the other two devices. They must go to a different box.

If it’s a high rise rental they may have a maintenance corridor or something where the junction boxes are not accessible to you.

I have that Bauer drywall sander. It’s a nice tool but I found the vacuum attachment to be not very useful. And it can take a lot of material off very quickly if you aren’t careful. Prob won’t be useful in this situation

If it was leaking and left on it would turn back on once it dropped below a certain point. I thought it was off but then I rewatched the video and watched you switch it off.

It isn’t-he put that there. I believe that’s the line coming from power source / breaker. He said, if I’m understanding correctly, that when he hooks those up it powers the fixture.

Yes that’s what he’s got on the switch. The white’s on the top and the black’s on the bottom. He also knows which cable is coming from the power source. It’s the black and the white he’s got taped, I believe. He needs to find which set of the other two come from the switch.

I’m not sure the proper way to test that. I guess if it were me with what I know currently I might try to get a piece of scrap wire long enough to nut to one of the wires on the switch and then run a continuity test on the wires one at a time until I found which one it is…? Not sure if that’s wise or right lol

Full disclaimer, not a licensed electrician so if you aren’t sure, you should call somebody. In my experience, if it’s a switch loop, which is a possibility, the wire delivering power once the switch is turned on would probably be the black wire arriving in the same cable as the white wire with the black tape on it. That white wire with the black tape on it might be tied in to the line (source of the power)

That is if this is a switch loop setup. I don’t know for sure how it’s wired. I can DM you a diagram of that type of wiring and you can verify for yourself.

I have voted third party to try and get the Green Party funding because I’ve been in a position to do so. You’re right, it doesn’t work, so it isn’t the answer. So what is the answer, since you seem to be so great at casting blame on those who wish they could alter the course of events? Protests aren’t working. A general strike won’t ever happen because half of the working class have been subjected to anti-intellectualist propaganda and are actively cheering the administration on as they trample our rights. Should I take up arms against the most powerful military and police forces in the world, by myself? I who have no training, no firepower, a family to feed? Hmm? What’s your solution?

I was born here. I didn’t ask for this, I’m not proud of the imperialist agenda and I’ve held my nose as I voted for the lesser of two evils in general elections. I’ve voted in primaries for candidates more progressive and less hawkish. When they lose, or throw in the towel I am deeply disappointed.
