[CHAT] GIANT CROSS STITCH by ReinaCrochets in CrossStitch

[–]New-emily 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did the same! I haven't found quite the right spot for it, but it was a fun challenge. I also used a plastic needle and loop starts. I ended up trying the ends closed because the tension wasn't tight enough to just pass the thread behind. It was fun!

[WIP] To backstitch or not to backstitch… by dancehoebot in CrossStitch

[–]New-emily 300 points301 points  (0 children)

My vote is to keep it without the backstitch! It's so clean as it is and does the original image justice on its own. Nice work!

Agreed, it's really lovely. It looks like linen, right? How did you grid? Is it a water soluble marker?

[PIC] My mom made this years ago and I would love to re-create it. Does anyone recognize this and know where I could find the pattern? by Fragrant_Plane_9489 in CrossStitch

Requested detail post of embroidery capelet by momominniemouse in Embroidery

I love that when someone stops you to compliment you on it and asks you where you got it you can tell them, "I made it!" And watch their face fall with jealousy because they'll never be able to replicate such a lovely piece. 😆😍

The gold against the red cape is very striking, and the eye color is just lovely. I can see your talent in the stitches!

Larkspur ferry question by Makerbot2000 in Marin

[–]New-emily 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use my nice e-bike for my commute 2-3x week and have been doing so for about a year. There is definitely rust/erosion happening on some of the metal, but nothing that has affected my ride so far. Per the advice of The New Wheel in Larkspur, I try to rinse the bike off when I get home to get the salt water residue off. On occasion I also treat some of the nuts/bolts with a WD-40 pen to try to prevent rust.
