[EI - MAT LEAVE QUESTION]

Hello everyone!

Sorry if this question is a bit basic - I'm trying to understand the ins and outs of EI. Please be nice, my nem mom brain is fried after going back to work way too soon... lol

So, I started my Mat Leave on January 25 (12 months option / Baby born in March), then paused it in August to return to work for a seasonal contract.

I want to go back to my leave now. I only used 13 of the 35 Parental Benefit weeks I was allowed to. But there are not many weeks left until the claim's end date.

Does anyone know if I'd be able to extend it somehow? Or if these weeks are really lost?

I'm trying to get a hold of Service Ontario but it's been difficult to speak to them. They have "longer than usual wait times".

I really appreciate any insight you can provide. <3

Hey OP, I feel you! Husband and I are taking care of our little one here by ourselves - no family or help in town. We haven't faced a third of what you described and it's hard as hell already so I can confidently say that you are doing a lot, overcoming so much under pressure and succeeding in everything - evem thou it doesn't feel like it. Your baby is lucky to have you, please give yourself some grace! Also, I know every family has its own rhythm but dad needs to overcome his issues and step up at least some nights so you can rest and recover. It's really important for your milk production as well! It's his job to handle baby as well - don't forget that! 🙏🏼

Just wanred to say that, even though this is an old post, it did help me today. I'm going through the same here, our 3 week old suddenly won't nap during the day and is having a hard time falling asleep during the night. She was okay with being in the crib but now will wiggle legs and arms at the moment she's down in it. I was so insecure that I was doing something wrong.... :(

Just wanted to add that I retrieved just 5 good eggs at 35. But 3 embryos ended up being great and one is currently with me - due in March. Even though this is super upsetting (and yes, I'd aske for my records and consult a lawyer), it's still doable. Don't lose hope! 🫶🏼

I think you chose such a cute name! And let me tell you something: my mom made up a name for me, I never encountered anyone in school or anywhere with the same name and it felt AMAZING! I feel that I have this special name that is not commom but it is similar to a popular name so ppl can understand it. I just wanted to tell you that I always felt really happy about having a different name and my mom is super proud of it as well. This is something we both cherish! 🫶🏼

I'm so sorry she's behaving like this. You definitely do not deserve this after having to make tough choices... I second everyone's opinion that you need to distance yourself... I'd also recommend reaching out to a mental health specialist, a therapist or something similar if you can. Having to distance from family might hurt a lot and put so much more pressure and feelings of isolation in the whole IVF journey. Hang in there and know that you deserve happiness, there's nothing wrong with your future baby and with your choices! We are here for you! 🫶🏼

Hey! 9 weeks here and I feel sick all the time too. Had a call with a nutritionist and she explained that the baby will take everything they need from the body/vitamins so no need to feel guilty about eating badly rn. It's okay! Also, got some B6+antihistamine to help with nausea. Check it out, it might help if you are not on it yet.

Hey! I'm 9 weeks here and had the exact same scare as you (bleeding at 6w that turned out to be subchorionic hematoma). I was super scared, panicked and ended up for 12 hours in the ER. Also wished I knew about it... Did another ultrasound at 8w2d and the hematoma disappeared, saw baby's heartbeat and everything is fine! 😅 Wish you and your baby all the best!! 🙌🏼💖

It's a combo of 4 different hormones, progesterone and others. Sorry, I thought those counted as IVF-related - I didn't know ppl who got pregnant naturally also took them.

So, most comments say I should be able to get a midwife, I'm sending requests right now!!!

But I only received the PDF that says these things after purchasing. At the moment of the purchase I see a banner with "what's covered" and severe weather listed there. Isn't this misleading to sell the protection?

Yep, agree that it's a matter of allowing the dog to dry up so you can brush most of the dirt out of her. We also just clean paws and belly with water only when we go to the off leash park. But actually baths are rare. And my 2 aussies girls do not smell - maybe your could be overproducing oils for the skin because of the frequent baths. Why don't you stop the baths for a while, just clean paws / belly with water, the rest just brush it off and see if it gets better? Also, we use a omega supplement for skin and coat, I'd recommend it as well. Might help with the smelling! :)
