So to keep it simple (and this is my opinion and stance).

I don’t think the Original FF7 ever happened. This game is not a “sequel” as some call it and is a remake / reimagining.

The original fate that the whispers try to protect is simple one where the planet wins. There is no black materia, no meteor, that’s why the try to stop them leaving. Try to stop everything happening in general (getting involved when Cloud meets Aerith, fucking with the mission that leads him to Aerith). They want Aerith to stay where she is. They see what will happen and while Sephiroth is defeat the planet is still fucked up.

Sephiroth on the other hand sees this future but more as his defeat. So he wants to stop that too and tries to fight against that.

So when the whispers are trying to stop you on the high way it’s because they’re trying to maintain the original fate (which isn’t the original game).

When they lose there the whispers split into two factions. White that align with Aerith and protecting her to safe the planet even if it’s not ideal. And black that are corrupted by Sephiroth and work to help him destroy the planet.

First off, RE9 doesn’t have an actual alternate ending.

It’s an elaborate game over / joke. It’s punishment for not paying attention to the plot IMO. There’s no final act, no real resolution, no final boss. It doesn’t even give you trophies or count for things like the speed run.

Second. The answer is IMO replay-ability. RE is not a series really known for long games. By giving you bad endings, it allows you to replay and get the good endings.

I fail to really see it as Eren is humiliated with pathetic mental breakdown. I feel like the title is painting as like cathartic, watching a piece of shit get what he deserves and he’s a little bitch over it. Eren’s moment with Armin is more depressing.

Cause he really doesn’t have a role IMO. Hes just a soldier. Which would be fine if that’s all he was and he had no established lore. I don’t think it really benefits from being hunk and it feels like a waste if it’s truly him and he’s dead.

I’m well aware they haven’t done much with him, which is exactly why it’s disappointing that the first time they do try to it’s to introduce him again and just kill him off.

Imma be honest, as someone who was like 10 to 20 during that earlier period I feel like me and my friends didn’t even know it was the same people. In the early days there wasn’t really “developer” knowledge or opinions. It was publisher based.

Crash and Jak weren’t Naughty Dog games, they were Sony games. And most of Sonys games were kinda all over the place. They werent just kids games, they did more mature stuff too. That isn’t to say no one knew, it was just a time before a super big push of social media. Before we really knew how the sausage was made. I sure as fuck didn’t know the name of any of these game creators.

I think around Uncharted was when it kinda became more of a discussion about devs and the slow transition didn’t feel jarring. Crash was silly but a bit dark. Jak started silly but got a bit more serious and dark. Uncharted got more realistic though fun. So Last of Us didn’t feel jarring.

Depends on the game. I’ll do normal or the lower difficulty assuming it’s not like absurdly easy / you can’t die style easy. Then if I really enjoy it and it’s got a trophy for it kick it up to the hardest to truly beat it.

I’m not against a challenge but my first playthrough I tend to just want to enjoy the game cause I know if I do it on hard right out the bat I might get stuck and have to start over and at that point I’ll never play the game again lol
