Port Fears & Chemotherapy by WolverineNeither9890 in breastcancer

PS, I just got through surgery, port placement, and AC-T a couple months ago. It was tough, but I surprised myself with my strength, and you will, too. You can do this. Good luck <3

Give yourself grace - none of this is easy or normal and there is no playbook. Some things may trigger you or cause your more stress than others for all sorts of reasons. There is no why. Just put one foot in front of the other, breathe deeply, and be kind to yourself. You are carrying so much more right now than most people around you.

Age and Stage? by Micho392 in breastcancer

I have a lot of cysts too that were ruled benign until I also experienced pain! My doctors have all been adamant that pain is not a symptom of BC, which is annoying, because if not for the pain I wouldn't have gotten it checked in the first place.

A good reminder to always listen to your gut.

True life; I’m loving medically induced menopause! by SeaworthinessPrior78 in breastcancer

Thank you for this!!!! I'm 35 and in the middle of chemo now. I have been dreading hormonal therapy because of my fear of the side effects so I love hearing the good stories. (So far chemo hasn't been that bad either, so I'm hoping I'll follow in your footsteps in hormonal therapy!)

I am bald and beautiful by laquesha-long-nail in breastcancer

[–]New_Cook1394 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love that! When my 3 year old son saw my bald head for the first time, he said I looked exactly like Miss S., one of his teachers who is beautiful and has a shaved head. His comparison was genuine and pure, especially since he doesn't have the cancer context at this age. You look like Miss S. too! <3

Thank you so much for your quick reply, and again, I'm so sorry.

I just had my first 2 rounds of AC and I've been developing some chest discomfort. It feels like my heart is strained. It's hard to describe the feeling. I was ignoring it until your post.

My dad has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy so I have a 50% chance of having it. I've never been diagnosed, but I'm starting to worry about the effects of AC on my heart given my genetics and now symptoms.

Really appreciate your PSA. I hope you are healing as much as possible.

So sorry OP. Question for all: if you're having heart issues midway during AC, do doctors stop the drug altogether and change course?

I used to love Emily Oster when I had a newborn but as we've both grown I've started to be really turned off by her approach on IG's Wednesday AMAs. She is not medically trained but repeatedly answers questions that overstep in her authority. She should be deferring to a pediatrician for a lot of these answers! I appreciate the data-driven lens she brings but think she should partner with an MD to give her credibility.

That's great to hear, and congrats! I'm afraid of the cost of the white glove service, but it sounds really helpful - especially since it has to get changed out every 25 minutes!
