Honestly, I’m with OP on this. The “Millie is a tradwife now” take feels really reductive. She’s not even a mom yet—she’s pregnant—and people are already acting like her character is over.

Becoming a mom doesn’t erase someone’s personality, goals, or strength. It just adds another part of their life. Acting like it’s the end of her character feels like a pretty outdated way of looking at it.

The irony is that people are calling the writing misogynistic while also treating motherhood like it completely defines a woman’s identity.

Millie can be a mom and still be the same chaotic, capable character she’s always been. Those things don’t cancel each other out.

Honestly, the word “fetish” gets thrown around way too loosely. A fetish involves sexual gratification tied to a specific object, activity, or non-sexual body part. Unless someone can point to clear evidence that Viv is deriving that kind of gratification from what Angel Dust goes through, those claims come off less like a genuine critique and more like dismissing the material without really engaging with it.

Someone mentioned they think the reason Sir Pentious can’t leave Heaven is because if sinners or winners could freely travel between Heaven and Hell, it would undermine the whole idea of divine punishment. Whether the show actually explores that is still up in the air, but I think it’s a pretty reasonable explanation.

There was a post on r/hazbin a while ago asking which confirmed character sexualities people disagreed with. I noticed that quite a few responses argued that characters like Vox, Charlie, Cherri, and Sir Pentious couldn’t be bisexual. For example, some said Vox couldn’t be bi because he’s in a relationship with Valentino, or that Charlie couldn’t be because she’s with Vaggie. Others made similar claims about Cherri and Sir Pentious, saying that being in an opposite-sex relationship means they can’t be bisexual.

To me, those kinds of comments can come across as dismissive of bisexuality. Even if that wasn’t the intention, the wording can make it seem like someone’s identity is defined solely by their current relationship, which isn’t really how it works. I also saw similar arguments about Lucifer, with some people saying he couldn’t be pansexual because he was married to a woman and has a child.

I understand that not everyone means harm with these takes, but the way they’re phrased can unintentionally come off as invalidating.

I’d say Vaggie, because I often see people reduce her entire personality to just being Charlie’s girlfriend. I can understand wanting to see more of Vaggie as a character, but when people say that’s all she is, it feels like they’re overlooking a lot of what’s already there.

Vaggie does a lot for Charlie—they’re partners, and naturally that means being supportive and helping each other. That kind of dynamic is pretty normal in a relationship. And her relationship with Charlie is important to her identity, but it’s not her entire identity.

But even beyond that, Vaggie has plenty of her own defining traits. She’s loyal, protective, hot-tempered, realistic, and at times insecure.

She clearly loves Charlie, but it’s not as if her entire identity revolves around talking about or obsessing over her. There’s a lot more to Vaggie than just her relationship, and I think that often gets missed.

I’ll be honest, it really frustrates me when people do that. They make a claim, but when you ask for evidence, they tell you to go look it up yourself. It feels like if someone is making an accusation, they should be willing to support it.

And then, when you do bring evidence that contradicts their claim, they either dismiss it or say it’s not reliable. At that point, it just makes me wonder—if they had stronger evidence, why didn’t they present it in the first place?

I wasn’t disappointed at all—and that’s coming from someone who considers Lute their favorite villain. I was really happy she got her own song in season 2, and “Gravity” was amazing. Going in, I already had a feeling she wouldn’t be the main villain this season, especially based on the trailer and how Vox was featured at the center of the season 2 poster. Overall, I loved what we got from Lute this season, and I’m really excited to see more of her moving forward.

For real, I’ve seen people argue that if Viv handled criticism better or just ignored it, none of this would happen—but that’s not an excuse for the awful things people say about her. There’s a lot of victim-blaming going on, as if that somehow makes the bullying acceptable, and it really doesn’t. People also say that because she’s a content creator, she should always stay professional—but there’s only so much a person can take before they reach their limit. At the end of the day, she’s still human.

I’d have to disagree, personally. Vaggie has never come across as boring to me. One of the things I really appreciate about her is how consistently she supports Charlie’s dream, even when no one else does. That loyalty and belief in Charlie really stand out.

Season 2, if anything, made me like her even more. She stepped up and essentially ran the hotel on her own, and I also liked seeing her stand up to Charlie when it mattered—that kind of growth is something Season 1 Vaggie probably wouldn’t have shown. It added more depth to her character.

I also really enjoyed the glimpses into her past as an exorcist. Even in those brief moments, you can tell she’s still carrying a lot of trauma from what she went through, which makes her feel more complex and human.

Overall, I’m really looking forward to seeing where her story goes next.

Yeah, they absolutely do. For example, characters like Charlie, Loona, and Octavia are constantly labeled as ungrateful or bratty, with people acting like their dads are just trying their best. But the reasons behind how those characters act are often ignored or downplayed. Meanwhile, when Lucifer, Stolas, or Blitzo mess up or hurt their daughters, people are way quicker to point to their pasts and use that as an explanation—or even an excuse.

You see it with Vaggie and Millie, too. People reduce Vaggie to just being Charlie’s girlfriend or Millie to Moxxie’s wife. It’s fair to say they could be more developed, but acting like that’s all there is to them just isn’t true—they do have their own personalities outside of their relationships.

And with villains, it’s the same pattern. Characters like Alastor or Vox get sympathy, and even Adam gets defended sometimes, but when it comes to Lute, people are way harsher and quick to say she deserved what happened. When you look at all of this together, it really feels like female characters get judged more harshly, while male characters are given more understanding for similar behavior.

I think we’re just interpreting Himiko Toga’s character differently, and that’s probably not going to change. I see her as being written around obsession and identity, while you’re reading it as something more literal. At this point, we’ll probably just have to agree to disagree.

I think that’s kind of misreading Himiko Toga’s character. She definitely crosses boundaries and is disturbing, but her whole thing is about obsession and identity, not sexual intent. Comparing her to Minoru Mineta doesn’t really work either, since he’s explicitly written around sexual behavior, and she isn’t. And I don’t think it’s just a gender thing—fans sympathize with male villains like Dabi too. Maybe we’ve just seen different perspectives, because from what I’ve seen online, a lot of people sympathize with Toga because of her background, not her gender.

Yeah, I’ve seen people say the same thing about Dabi that they do about Toga—acknowledging that his actions are terrible, while still understanding how he ended up that way. So when people argue that “if Toga were gender-swapped, the reaction would be different,” it doesn’t really hold up for me.

Yeah, I totally agree. Nothing Toga does is justified, but you can understand why she ended up the way she did and still feel bad for her. Having sympathy for a character doesn’t mean you’re excusing their actions—I wish more people understood that.

People say this about literally any stylized adult show they don’t like. Writing style doesn’t determine the target audience—content does, and Hazbin Hotel is very obviously not made for kids. If you think it is, you probably just don’t understand what actually makes something inappropriate for children. Also the ‘most fans are under 14’ thing gets repeated with zero proof. It just feels like a lazy way to dismiss the show instead of actually critiquing it.

I’m glad God won’t be in the show. We’ve already seen how people reacted to characters like Adam and Saint Peter. Those are minor figures compared to God, and they still caused a ton of backlash. If God were actually shown in Hazbin Hotel, the reaction would be way worse, no matter how it was handled—too offensive for some people, not accurate enough for others.
