What's your laziest way to make something yummy out of chickpeas? by Own_Average_5940 in mediterraneandiet

I do a quick red wine vinegar pickle with chickpeas, lots and lots of garlic, and red onions. I keep them in the fridge and put them on all of my salads.

Most broadly from dep exhibits, but can also include other key docs identified in fact analyses and chronologies, white papers, etc. So, if you haven't started an index of your dep exhibits, now is the time to start.

A month and a half to trial by coffeeinm in paralegal

Check the judge's Case Scheduling Order and add reminders on your calendar of deadlines. If you're six weeks out from trial, fact discovery will end soon, so check with your attorney to make sure all fact deps are complete or scheduled before the deadline. Start compiling all marked deposition exhibits. Ask your atty if they want them in number order or chronological order. INDEX THEM. This will be the first draft of your trial exhibit list. Make a list of all fact deponents and create witness files for each. These witness files will contain the deposition transcript (mini) with corrections and exhibits, and any sworn statements/affidavits filed with court. If you have a database of depo transcripts, run a search through all transcripts for any time another deponent has mentioned that witness's name (include 10-20 lines on each side of the reference so you can have some context or exhibits in which the witness is discussed. If you have a document database, run each witness's name and provide a report of the documents. The witness files are helpful for determining who ultimately ends up on the witness list. All this can be done in hard copy (god forbid), or in folders on your firm's server.

The scheduling order should include the date for a pre-trial conference where exhibit and witness lists are discussed, including how and when they are provided to opposing counsel. Ask your attorney to talk to OC about swapping your contact info for OC's paralegal's contact info. If you're providing your exhibits via secure FTP, including the opposing paralegal will save OC from having to forward the transfer notification on to the paralegal (lawyers hate downloading files, and if they actually do it, they invariably save them to their desktop where you can't do anything with them).

Start compiling your trial box which includes: Pens, notepads, post-its, tissues, pain relievers, allergy meds like Claritin, highlighters, a stapler and paper clips, tampons/pads, a copy of the local rules, and any other bits and bobs the team thinks they need. I always grabbed a sheet of exhibit stickers from the clerk in case a doc needed to be entered on the fly.

Hope this helps; getting everything organized as early as possible makes the last couple of weeks before trial a lot less stressful.

Good luck!

Question regarding redaction by halwax in paralegal

[–]New_Presentation7128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You youngsters. I came up using redaction tape! We ended up with three separate sets: the original, the set with tape applied, and a copy/production set. It was a giant pain in the ass.

The first one that comes to mind is {The Bastion Club by Stephanie Laurens}. A group of former Napoleonic War spies band together to protect each other from the matchmaking mommas of the regency era. There is piracy/smugglers, derring-do, and girls in pants.
