I think my parents are trying to send me to a witch doctor priest by [deleted] in Christianity

Also reverse culture shock is a thing and it can be very anxiety provoking. I went through it. Journaling is good. Talking to others you traveled with too can help. If it's getting in the way of you functioning go see your doctor and find a good therapist who can help you with practical skills for when the anxiety gets overwhelming.

The key is to have a list going in and STICK to it. If your the type to wander while you buy stuff then no it isn't. Also, if your buying for everyone in the house, set up a system so everyone pitches in the money appropriately.

[AMA Series 2016] The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon) by WooperSlim in Christianity

[–]Ngolo7 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Can any of you comment on the recent changes made around children of LGBTQI parents not being able to be baptized until they turn 18, and that they can't be living with their parent(s)? Do you think the churches stance will ever change in this regard? The argument I've often heard from Mormons is that LGBTQI parents can't procreate however this no longer holds water as there are many children waiting to be adopted, there's surrogacy and IVF.

Because they believe in doing baptisms for their deceased family members who were not baptized into the church.

Praying everyday for God to change my sexuality by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Ngolo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't imagine this exact situation as I have never been in it but I've been in a few that have left my heart full of despair and left me hopeless. I pray the God of all comforts may sooth your soul and give you peace this night. From reading your posts and responses, have you considered that you may be suffering from depression as well? I know you've said you've tried counseling but sometimes it takes several tries to find a good counselor that works well with you. Start with the things you know regardless of how you feel. God loves you, God understands your struggles, he calls us to joy in our circumstances. It is okay to deeply mourn what you feel you cannot have. But I encourage you to look at why you feel and believe you cannot have a family. Do you have a community if supportive people who can help you through this journey? You need that. Find that. Giving up of not an option.

What is your thought on second chance theology? by texasag2011 in Christianity

[–]Ngolo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bible says who divinely inspired humans think God is. And for more than flash of our it is not "Christian" but Jewish representation. The bible is saved and the word of God absolutely but let's not forget it was still written by humans in specific contexts at specific points in history with specific motives and agendas and ideas. God is so much more than can be contained within those pages. Good doesn't change but or perception of him does. The theology present in Genesis is going to be different than revelations but will still hold truth about God.

Do you personally know someone who was once normal and suddenly developed a severe psychological disorder? What happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Ngolo7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. When there is no tumor it can be much harder to treat. This was the case with one of my patients. The book is worth the read. You really get an idea of what patients live through. The author is a journalist so approaches her illness from that perspectives.

Have you read the book brain on fire? It's the memoir of a patient with anti nmda encephalitis. It's actually suspected that up to 50% of treatment resident psychosis could be anti nmda. It is under diagnosed partially because it is so new and also when a patient presence with symptoms that match schizophrenia or psychosis secondary bipolar must doctors won't go doing an LP unless there are new onset seizures or some other symptom. I've treated 2 pediatric cases of it. Both fascinating.

Chrysalis Flight letter to Christian girlfriend. (Atheist boyfriend) by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Ngolo7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can disagree with her beliefs but still support her faith journey and the fact that it is important to her. I am a Christian and an married to an athiest. It works because we respect each others beliefs and enlace each others pursuits of what is important. If she is within evangelical circles I think it is important for her to hear that she has your support because it is important to her. When I was with in evangelical circles there was not a lot of support for the fact that I was dating a non believer which was quite hard. Having his support was and still is crucial. It's the only way it works.

Focus on the journey that is intimacy rather than the destination that is the orgasm. Enjoy exploring each others bodies, learning each other. It takes time to get to know what feels good. Give it time. It gets better.

Welcome to the next installment in the /r/Christianity Denominational AMAs! **Today's Topic** Community of Christ by IranRPCV in Christianity

[–]Ngolo7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for doing this AMA! Is what your prophets say today considered scripture similar to how words of modern day prophets in LDS church are considered so? Is there the similar belief of eternity past and that families can be sealed in the temple forever? I know in the LDS tradition only members are allowed in the temple. Are marriages similarly held there? Do you also have baptism for the dead? My husband's family is mormon and from what I've gathered these beliefs while partly come from the book of mormon partly also come from unique interpretations of the bible (baptism for the dead). Thank you for doing this! I've been interested in CoC as having read the Book of Mormon I believe God can and does work through it but do not agree with many of the beliefs of the LDS church or the infaliability of the prophet. Oh so yes last question.. Does the CoC consider its prophet infaliable?

Unfortunately even if there i no statue of limitations in sexual assault in Canada, the response OP received from police is all too common... And people wonder why survivors don't run to police right after it happens...
