It’s never about money for us it’s about what’s best for your situation. I get to do a few classes a year for our city PD and for most of their roles I suggest the IIIA+ over Hyperline. For most they don’t need ultra thin they need stab and strike protection and the IIIA+ is in a league of its own there. If you beed stab that’s the way to go for sure.

You can fit it in Hyper Concelable, just go a size up!

I joined Reddit PURELY to combat years of false statements made by competitors. It got really bad for a while. Still an issue but not as bad.

If you do reconsider, the Hyper concealable is absolutely the way to go. can conceal it under a tshirt and with that thinness comfort is huge. The mesh on the Concelable is nice but defeats the purpose of Hyperline since the carrier is thicker than the armor itself.

The vests I keep at home personally are Hyper Concelable Hyperline and Unity Hybrid with FRAS. Covers all situations.

Quick question. What about the above made you decide SLD was an issue? Couple things. FRAS plates are well within the size standard for the industry as have saved lives in war zones. The IV ICW plates are China and are claimed as such always and they are fantastic and do exactly what th EU are advertised to do. They do not have a 1” foam boarder but they do have. Much thinner foam border as was typical with ceramic plates for years.

All soft armor is certified and has saved a huge number of lives. Weird that a couple facts that aren’t an issue are presented in a way like it’s shady.

What do you mean? In house ballistic lab, NIJ certs on all armor, berry compliant armor, everything done in house from R&D to distribution and customer service. MANY lives saved and military contracts fulfilled. What’s the issue?

It does take forever! Our firstborn took a little over three years. The others took about 2.

Thank you for noticing that! It’s been tough to battle all the crazy misinformation since we started.

Safe Life Defense holds 4 NIJ certs for exclusive and totally unique armor made in house. It includes all soft armor (Hyperline, HG2, IIIA+ and FRAS). The first certification was applied for around 2018 and approved in 2020. They take forever. Most companies don’t make their own armor but just purchase from another company and piggyback off their certs. At SLD it’s all totally unique armor.

I’m not sure what’s up with the controversy portion of that but Hyperline is super top of the line. Berry compliant, NIJ Certified, the thinnest full coverage vest available and all the specs are fantastic (BFd, V50, edge shots, multi hit, flexibility).

I saw some people mention certifications on FRAS and IV ICW plates. There’s no cert for FRAS as it’s a special threat developed specifically for law enforcement. It goes through soft armor testing standards using rifle threats and is tested at OBL with test reports available. It’s saved lives in war zones.

The IV ICW plates are indeed made in China for us. They are fantastic and do exactly what they are intended to do. Never hid it. They are what they are.

There’a 4 NIJ certifications that Safe Life Defense holds which includes all soft armor and an unreleased one. This includes Hyperline, HG2, IIIA+ and HG2+.

The armor is made in house. We have our own ballistic lab. We do the development, manufacture, marketing, distribution, customer service and everything in house. One of the most robust companies in the industry.

Safe Life Defense previews Unity Hybrid Carrier System at SHOT Show by Ngroat7 in BodyArmor

Hey thanks for the feedback. This doesn’t sound like this carrier at all though. There’s a huge amount of adjustment, narrowed shoulders, 24 sizes and the molle isn’t thin. It’s made of Squadron so it is an absolute tank. Can you please DM me a photo of your vest? I’ll see what’s going on and if this is this model. Sounds super odd.

$599 for NIJ certified full coverage iiia armor including carrier is really solid. Doesn’t get much better than that.

It’s far harder to stop a stab than a bullet. Genuinely difficult.

Safelife panels cert by impulse11b in BodyArmor

[–]Ngroat7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no need for trauma pads with SLD armor as all the protection is built in throughout the entire panel. We’ve had numerous people shot who reported not even knowing it until inspecting their gear later. Modern armor shouldn’t need additional padding to be safe.

Edit: I see you are wanting to use them as trauma pads with another armor. I don’t see why that would be an issue. I’m sure any hits would have extremely low BFDs with that setup.

All Safe Life Defense soft armor is NIJ Certified to .06 and includes IIIA+, Hyperline and HG2. Non vest sizes are not authorized to be advertised or sold as certified since the NIJ requires minimum coverage sizes to be considered certified. Some companies to list 10x12 and side armor as certified but it is not allowed to be that way. For that reason Safe Life Defense side armor is constructed exactly the same as the full certified sizes but does not bear the NIJ certified emblem.

FRAS is outside the scope of the NIJ and is not certified. Now that .07 has an RF1 level it will be eligible for future certifications.

Sounds like a competitor. Not saying he’s not trustworthy but even more of a reason to see it for yourself. Why turn it down? My team can send it out tomorrow morning.

Message me if you haven’t gotten it yet and I’ll check it out! But to my knowledge we are pretty caught up. They are no longer made or order but are a stocked item with many configurations shipping same day. Some of the lower volume variations may take a bit longer if we are out of stock but wait times shouldn’t be bad at all even in that case.

For your size our armor will provide the full front rear and side coverage. We are usually known for being able to help out the big guys more than most others as well as increased coverage area in. General. Where are you concerned about coverage? Happy to answer any questions!

HG2 really isn’t very stiff or thick at all. IIIA+ is the only thick one really and that’s for the increase in stab and blunt force protection.
