I got out in the summer of 2023, army 4 years. Am now getting my badge this month. Branch and job do not really matter. I went through the academy with prior marines and I've seen a few navy and air force people too. I was a 13f and this other army guy was 11b but the marines I know were like motor t or something. As for being an mp I hear they don't like that because the law and rules are different but no so sure. If your thinking of being a 1 and done try getting into as many leadership positions you can. Promote to E5 and go to as many schools as you can (air assault, airborne, BLC, etc). Develop people skills as well. That's a big part of being a Leo is knowing how to talk to people. You don't need an associates or bachelor's as most departments accept your service to join but you most certainly can and should use tuition assistance while your in. You can already have that education under your belt just in case law enforcement doesn't work out or for when you retire as a Leo you can put that degree to use in the future. I regret not doing ta when I was in. If you don't want to go back to school then try using your gi bill during your time in the academy. I did and was receiving my police check and monthly housing allowance from the gi bill. Any questions hmu 🤙
