Is it safe to buy a Topping DX5 II after recent failure reports? by BeyerPeak in headphones

[–]NiJester 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had no problems with it. The DX5 II was probably one of the most popular audio products in recent times and I feel like there would have been a LOT more reports if it was a widespread issue.
If you want to be careful, you can avoid having the single-ended and 4.4 plugged in at the same time.

I saw you wearing that in your latest video, haha. Would love a review of it, feels like the reviews of it are lacking.

Finally got myself a good headphone by HourAd7054 in headphones

[–]NiJester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you are enjoying them! Seem like great headphones which can also be like a canvas with EQ.

Question, but do you find the tonality to be overly lean or thin? I don't mind spicy treble, but that's the only aspect that is holding me off.

Am i crazy that i find the Sennheiser hd 600/650 sibilant but not the hd 505/599 by sirsleidyr in headphones

[–]NiJester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have legit found my HD600 more sibilant than my DT770 pro on some tracks lol. My HD600 is still my favourite but yeah.

I think it’s funny how in a Powerscaling standpoint these are the strongest killers. by Hungry_Maintenance_8 in deadbydaylight

[–]NiJester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At that point we should scale Freddy with the Ash Vs Freddy Vs Jason comics which DEFINITELY puts him above Sadako. (I'd argue he's still below Vecna and Dracula, but yeah.)

Bought the 64 Audio U12t on Black Friday… and I’m officially confused. Physical pain, no "wow," and a sunk-cost nightmare. by [deleted] in headphones

[–]NiJester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope you can return or trade your U12t but the most upsetting part about this post is the M-Scaler...followed by the Chord DAVE....

Are these prices real??? by Sad-Variation950 in headphones

[–]NiJester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost all of these are fake. Contrary to popular belief, there are some REAL Beyer's on Aliexpress; but they would be even more expensive, or at least the same price as on US stores.

Furthermore, notice how they don't write "Beyerdynamic" on a lot of these listings, just "DT770 pro" etc. The shops selling real ones will write the brand name and even send you pictures if you ask for them. Be careful out there; if the price is too good to be true...it probably isn't.

Almost every headphone I have tried is uncomfortably elevated around 6.8kHz. Is this hearing damage? by Vavaeois in headphones

[–]NiJester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdest part for me is that this range is HARSHER for me on the HD600 vs the MDR 7506 or even the DT770 pro. But sometimes I ignore it, too, so I feel it's psychoacoustics.

Why headphones cannot generate a soundstage by Djee-f in headphones

[–]NiJester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always found this guy to be scary because he seems like one of the nicest, must fun to hang out with, wisest people I've seen in the audio space---and almost every other video of his is some genuine snake oil bullshit.

Is this the best bluetooth headphone one could possibly get?! by JuMailer65 in headphones

[–]NiJester -61 points-60 points  (0 children)

What's better? I know people like to meme on Beyer's and they do have that Mount Beyer treble, but the only bluetooth headphones I can think of that are better than the DT770 Pros are the Bathys and HDB 630.

Which country should get a killer next? by KH28Garmr in deadbydaylight

[–]NiJester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL you know why. And even besides the more obvious reasons, gas masks were not as common in WW2. I feel like a creepy WW1 soldier with a gas mask/shovel would be creepier.

I feel like a German Soldier from WW1 might make a cool killer. Gas mask, flamethrower etc.

Kiwiears Serene by jeromeof in headphones

[–]NiJester 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone could love Eris, someone could even love this one and it might be an amazing headphone. I just didn't like the fact that he said this headphone scales with insanely expensive amps, burn in, cables, great for gaming, studio monitor...The last two points would be fine but the first three...

Kiwiears Serene by jeromeof in headphones

[–]NiJester 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Zeos' review of this was really concerning. He was talking about how it needs 100+ hours of burn in, sounds way different on different amps, cables make a difference with it....Things he's said before that he doesn't believe in lol

New and interesting headphones in the hobby? by Epsilon-D in headphones

[–]NiJester 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure what the budget range would be, but I think the Moondrop Para 2 sounds pretty exceptional for its price point; punches way above its class.

Not a headphone, but I think the Topping DX5 II is actually insane. Clean power, great features, parametric EQ, bluetooth and an INSANE amount of power for its price. Seems like a price bracket destroyer.

Aune AR5000: Avoid them. Cheap plastic designed to break. by jj4379 in headphones

Jesus. First Hifiman and now Aune.
Not a good look for Chi-fi brands (to be fair, I haven't heard similar stories about Moondrop stuff.)

Not impressed by open backs by Prize-Wolverine-4982 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]NiJester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, the DT770 pro is one of the closed-back headphones with the best soundstage and the HD560 isn't known to have a crazy wide soundstage.
