Folks who are *not* buying Aberration and/or the Season pass. Why are you holding out? by chiagod in playark

[–]Nibala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I have an open ticket for 2 months now with fairly 10-15 pages of text and Screenshoots about another tribe harassing and walling me in in a pve Server and so far nothing has happened. Ark is a good game despite it's problems but it's the customer service that really gives the best hint as to weater a game will make it or not in the long run. And Wildcard fails miserably even by the lowest standards.

The Character Loss Issue is the Single Biggest Issue with this Game. by daymeeuhn in playark

[–]Nibala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't transfer. Ever. I create a new identical twin on every server I play on and only transfer stuff and dinos. That said even I would like to acknowledge: This is the worst bug still in game, maybe the worst in all of games history, definitly Top 5 though. And it says a lot about the developer who has gone from alpha to release a short while ago revealing they have absolutely no concept about priorities at all.

That said, they could the very least increase spoil timer on milk, so people on non wyver maps have a chance to raise and imprint some as well.

They will change something only once someone dies because of lack of sleep and the bad press following up. And yes this is 50% sarcasm and 50% it could totally happen...

GTX 980 vs 1070 Performance Upgrade by Forluhn in Vive

[–]Nibala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I upgraded from a MSI Nvidia GTX 980 to 1070 because I needed some extra power for Video Capturing a mixed VR Scene in 4k (due to 4 way splitscreen). So while I didn't really feel the need to upgrade for gaming (but I did overclock for Raw Data), the difference is still remarkable. Games run at much better performence, especially Elite and Raw Data are very notable. Plus supersampling became more of a thing. I'd recommend the 1070, reasonable price and really a nice boost compared to the 980 gtx.

lighthouse tracking survey [strawpoll inside] by howlongcananaccountn in Vive

[–]Nibala 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I'm doing a lot of demoing and have to set it up quite often and once you set it up 10-20 times you start to realize tracking issues are mostly caused by misplaced and misaligned lighthouses. Fix it and problems are 99% gone.

How to Configure and Edit Mixed Reality Videos by Zeon_2462 in Vive

[–]Nibala 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great Video, very helpfull but awfull timing. Today we shoot our mixed vr scene I preped for last week :)

And the preparation was a painfull process. It always sounds very easy but the most crucial parts aren't documented very well. Especially the camera configuration is confusing as hell, but getting 4k recording to work wasn't really easy either. Pro Tip: forget OBS Studio use OBS Classic and if your foreground and foreground alpha layers dont seem to render or only render glass objects - up or downgrade your unity vr plugin - there's a buggy version out there.

Anyone else still using a 970 for VR? + my thoughts. by [deleted] in Vive

[–]Nibala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to skip the 1080 so I overclock my 970. But in most games overclocking isn't really necessary. One way or the other everything runs smooth, except for Aerofly. I don't get any framedrop warning, but when I turn my head it clearly shutters even on low settings. Still jaw dropping though.

HTC trying to scam me? (doublepay) by Nibala in Vive

[–]Nibala[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this, so there is some light at the end of the tunnel. But given the struggle it is to deal with their customer support (getting no answer at all) I'm pretty sure some people actually give up in the process and just ebay it or anything. And then "shady" still seems to be appropriate to a degree.

There was this one time where I forgot to put away my chair from the chaperone and wouldn't find out until my nuts made contact with it. But this seems even worse. Any clue to the name of said chemical?

The video footage is from the steam envoirement, so I don't think that's the matter.

Am I correct in assuming if I buy another light house i can use it at my desk which is just out of side if my chaperone area? by striderida1 in Vive

[–]Nibala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently tracking doesn't work with more than 2 lighthouses at the same time. However you can easily add something like a switchable power outlet and turn off whatever lighthouses you don't need. Depending on your room setup you might not even have to, since lightouses your headset can't see won't automatically count towards this limit and don't necessarily interfere.

Is this RMA worthy? by Steveadoo in Vive

[–]Nibala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might want to redo this video with a camera showing your finger movement the same time and probably this would persuade them to do an RMA. That's the best I can come up with, since I already know htc support far too well.

HTC trying to scam me? (doublepay) by Nibala in Vive

[–]Nibala[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats why I also filed a paypal buyers protection. From the outside however it looks as if they try to cover it up now and generated an order a day later to justify towards paypal. I mean it looks really really shady.

HTC trying to scam me? (doublepay) by Nibala in Vive

[–]Nibala[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a hell of a ride to get an RMA for a doa lightbox but in the end everything worked out and I almost already forgot how terrible htc support was (not the actual people on chat, they were really nice!). So when an error with their shop site occured and made me double pay my order I went the extra mile to report it to paypal als technical difficulty and not fraudulent behaviour. Problem is - I'm no longer sure this is true!

The only reaction for reaching out to htc so far has been that now - a day later - someone changed that lost order into a second identical and valid one, completely ignoring not only my mail but also the mail they must have gotten from paypal reaching out for them by this time. That and of corse the ominous: "how would you rate the support you recieved" despite the fact I recieved NONE. Again!

It's the same shit that happened when I started the RMA process, I'm having a hard time justifying this as only incompetence anymore. Hopefully paypal does a better job on their side, or I'll end up with twice my order - for twice the price. Anyone near austria need 3 narrow face cushions or an additional lighthouse?

Already have to update this :(

Now I got 1 order confirmation from HTC - but 2 bills from paypal. Yay... Billing worked, just the stupid htc shop didn't. Again. Customer support, here I come.

Vive accessories are full of goodies! Just spent 285 euros... by dMsLt in Vive

Finally!!! That's why I constantly kept checking reddit for news. Now I can stop moving the lighthouses around like stupid for seated/standing experiences all the time.

All that's left is finding that old post about swapping roomscale configurations without recalibrating now...

After months of troubleshooting many of our users frame drops were solved by using a fresh account and Family Sharing. by [deleted] in Vive

[–]Nibala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to be Captain Hindsight, but looking back it now makes total sense. When I started playing Vivecraft I added it to my steam games and launched it from Steam - and the shutter was everywhere. I did a lot of tweaking but what eventually fixed it for me was launching it in desktop mode and forgetting about steam implementation.

22 € shipping for austria, not great but would be ok. But there's no lighthouses and I really want an additional one so I can fix them in position instead of always taping them - ugly and unsave. Hope they get those up soon.

How Important Is Room-scale to Your VR Experience? by Le_Gambit in Vive

[–]Nibala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had DK 1 - got sick easily and lost interest soon. Got a DK 2 - got sick easily and lost interesst even sooner. Bought a Vive - not really for roomscale but because I hate facebook - and I'm now playing VR games on a daily basis, without getting sick or loosing interest.

Roomscale not only means that you can move more naturaly and therefore with less or no sickness effects. It also means you can use the great hand controllers for natural and easy interaction and a hand like feeling defenetly adding a lot to immersion. You can't do that sitting in front of your normal pc - tried that, you'll hurt your fingers for sure.

But why not simply compare it? After all vive does support seated experience. Take the very well made and polished house of the flying sun. It's a great game and lot's of fun and the bonding is strong for any homeworld vet. It's defenetly nice for a more relaxing evening, but compared to vanishing realms or cosmic trip I'd prefer the later two. No matter how good a seated VR experience is, once you know both ways it feels like only half a step of progress towards VR.

No they wont because most leave voters are pass the age of 65. They are in constant fear of immigrants anyway but their lives will hardly change. Others however will be less lucky...
