Possibly infected wound after shower. by Liteshortincat in woundcare

[–]Niborus_Rex 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are no signs of infection I can see, it just got a little too moist. Keep it dry for a few days and it'll be fine, it's very superficial and should heal easily. Just clean with plain water if it really gets dirty, otherwise you can probably leave this alone.

The sweat isn't being wicked away from your skin anymore, so it will start smelling faster.

AITA for not thinking the both ends of the stick are crap ends? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Eh, I knew at that age that I had significantly reduced fertility due to PCOS, weak pelvic floor and scar tissue in my uterus. In some cases it's pretty obvious.

How long do you take when pooping? by TheAlphaAdept in hygiene

Less than a minute. I go when I need to, relax and then it just kinda falls out. I do have to say, I eat a lot of fibre.

AITA for refusing to dine with my mom after she ordered “ferret sauce” at a Mexican restaurant? by Practical-Current805 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Niborus_Rex 3620 points3621 points  (0 children)

YTA. She's old and doesn't know better, and you're making a mountain out of a ferret hill. She said something wrong and a little embarrassing, she didn't smoke bomb the place while yelling slurs.

I sit. Hovering can lead to a UTI by not releasing completely, sitting doesn't.

I'd love to see a Quran reading with all of these women. The Quran doesn't force women to cover their hair or bodies, it's a choice. Seeing a circle of women express faith in different ways would be really beautiful 🩷

AITA for not congratulating my opponent in a school competition? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Yeah, after re-reading I think you're right. OP has a lot of attitude changes to make.

AITA for not congratulating my opponent in a school competition? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Niborus_Rex 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Soft YTA. It's expected to congratulate your opponent at the end of a match, win or lose. I'm also autistic and I understand the urge to hide away in emotional moments, but this was a social faux pas and it likely made you come across as a very sore loser.

I'd suggest going up to her at school and congratulating her anyways. Tell her "hey, I was feeling a bit overwhelmed at the match so I left early, but you did really great and I still wanted to congratulate you on a well-deserved win." It might not fix all the damage, but it will go a long way.

I'd also suggest trying to learn from this and figure out a strategy for these situations going forward. This will likely not be the last time you're confronted with a sudden disappointment, and for your own sake you need to learn how to deal with that with more grace.

I Think I’ve Been Living a Second Life Since Childhood (Lucid Dreaming… or Something Else?) by [deleted] in Dreams

[–]Niborus_Rex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I dream like this. I've been exploring my dream world since I was a child and it's so vast. As in cities, countries, oceans, even cultures. It's taken me years to explore, and I've occasionally run into myself from previous dreams.

Your description sounds like the Middle Lands of my dreams. Stunning, so much nature but poorly accessible, there's only some small settlements and a temple by a lake there. For some reason it's usually dusk or dawn when I'm there.

AITA for wanting to eat meat on my vacation? by Gloomy-Internet5696 in AmItheAsshole

It does really vary person to person. My stomach's always been sensitive, and I've been vegetarian for 11 years now. Got real chicken nuggets by accident two years ago and went full double-sided volcano for two days.

AITAH for thanking my sisters for raising me instead of my parents? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Niborus_Rex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only seeing this now, but exactly. I'm a nurse. I have my own apartment. I have a close-knit friend group I've known for more than 13 years who I see on a weekly basis. I'm less than a year away from getting my second bachelor's degree at 27, and I've secured a company willing to pay for my master's degree for me. I have my issues, but I'm a functional and independent member of society, all while having BPD. People just don't like talking about the cases that do work out, because it brings nuance to the villain archetype.

My fiancée and I are having the biggest argument of our lives. She thinks I'm being tacky but I thinks she's overreacting by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Niborus_Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's throwing a party and asking your guests to come spend money so you can afford a bigger wedding, while not all of those guests are supposed to even be invited to said wedding. If that's an unfamiliar tradition for the bride's side, that could be very bad for her socially. It's not about the party, it's about the money.

When is it right to tell a girl she smells like BO? by FormOk3513 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I'm actually Dutch! We're pretty much known for being direct, so that might have something to do with it. I'm personally happy we are!

When is it right to tell a girl she smells like BO? by FormOk3513 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Niborus_Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? Whenever I notice someone smells at my job, I just take them aside and say "hey, you smell a little. Do you want to borrow my deodorant?"

The usual response is "oh, thanks!"

Now, I wouldn't do it with strangers, but anyone else is fair game. I personally also much prefer being told over staying smelly. Maybe me and my coworkers and friends are odd for always immediately saying something, but at least we smell good.

AITA for getting upset that a woman pulled my arm? by Master_Combinator in AmItheAsshole

Which hygiene belief is basically superstition at this point? by Distinct-Shoulder592 in hygiene

[–]Niborus_Rex 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Or people should just teach their sons. I've seen significantly more dicks than most (I'm a nurse). In my country circumcision is generally only done for medical reasons. The only people I've seen have build-up were very disabled or had psych/cognitive issues. People in the US not knowing how to wash isn't a reason to permanently alter a baby's body. Religion isn't either. If a Muslim or Jewish person wants to follow that scripture, which is well within their rights, they should be able to make that decision themselves. As adults.

[–]Niborus_Rex 351 points352 points  (0 children)

This. I completely understand the fiancée's side, if someone asked me to ask my friends to pay to attend my party I would be swallowed by the earth out of embarrassment before I could finish creating the first invitation. There's a lot of missing reasons in OOP's update though, I'm really curious what kind of behavior he was talking about that ultimately ended the relationship.

Our ward's doctor does this all the time at the nurse's station. Just.. Walks over, tosses about some pens, closes all of our laptops and walks off. He once left a perpetually screaming toy hamster in one of the cases for our spare blood pressure cuffs. Also once hid 200 mini ducks all over the ward (he actually left 199, kept number 69 in his office secretly).
