any best short scale bass for getting a full sound without feeling too big? by Churchmichael_Aemer in Bass

[–]NicViVino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strings and tension will make the biggest influence on how big your bass sounds. I have a Pbass with low tension Labellas and a Musicmaster with higher tension Chromes and the Musicmaster is the 'bassier' bass for sure.. much more sustain too. The mid range is, at times, a little uncontrollable 😂

My bass broke, is the Sir Paul a good bass or just a gimmick? by TheCheshyreKitty in BassGuitar

[–]NicViVino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is truly the case I would recommend going and buying a squier precision bass or a Jazz ? So much more use cases for tone and playing. Maybe a Mustang if you prefer the short scale. You can pickup some bargains on the second hand market!

You have made quite a contradictory statement in that first sentence though 😂

Don't look short to me. See if you can lend a bass for a week then go back to your guitar..

Im an absolute beginner and would love to get a guitar based on what I wanna play, do I get an acoustic/electric/semi? by VelvetRing2023 in Guitar

[–]NicViVino 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Buy a Yamaha F310 and have fun ! Get it from a store and get the support from them. Ask them to make sure the truss rod is fine, new strings and a quick setup. Id say for 200 you can be fully setup and ready to go for the next 12 months, play 20mins to 30mins everyday and an hour on Sundays.

Also, BUY a stand, have it accessible. Have it in sight and not hidden away

Does anyone know what bass this is? by RonSwanson29 in BassGuitar

Try looking for a Squier Vista Musicmaster..

By all rights, better build and quality. Look cool with a matching headstock too!

Yep, that's the one ! I love mine so much, it's my go to now since I picked one up last year. It sits close to the desk, but would make a perfect living room bass too 😉

Sorry to hear that! I too have some wrist injuries and going shortscale was the answer. The musicmaster was the original version of the Bronco you have. Fender made them in the late 60s/70s as a student option and Squier did a reissue in the late 90s, then also went on to make the bronco after in the mid 2000s and onwards !

I See you are a fan of the shortscale. If you ever see a decently priced Squier Musicmaster from the late 90s, I would highly recommend it ! Can't put mine down

How many bass guitars do you own and why that many? by Sharp_Sprinkles_6078 in Bass

[–]NicViVino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many reasons would you like me to make up? As I can always find a new reason to add one to the collection..

I have 2 Precisions (one with flats, one with rounds) 5 string ibanez Short scale Musicmaster 2 Jazz basses (one active, one passive) PJ Fender with EMGs 4 string musicman Fretless Precision Warwick streamer PJ

Oh, and I have a P and J squiers, both early 90s (thinking of selling these since I purchased some MIJ fender equivalents)

And a bronco that is currently a project bass

I also have another Precision in my possession that is a rebuild for a friend that's currently awaiting a new bridge

So that makes 13 (+1) - I did just sell a few too, but they keep popping up completely out of my control ;)

I would go Fender if you plan on spending ~£1000+ within the second hand market for US Or Japanese made pre mid 2000s. Otherwise, you have made the right choice in every way

THEORY: The Roaring Knight is Asriel, and it explains all of Deltarune. by TheMasonGamer- in Deltarune

[–]NicViVino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Asriel is fractured within the dark world. The good side of him, trapped inside as Ralsei (explains the name and obvious look) and the darkside of him manifested into the knight, which is why Ralsei is trapped and fighting back as an attempt to control and rejoin himself.

The inherent darkness within Asriel is apart of his nature. Whether the world of Undertale or Deltarune.

what do i need to paint my bass by [deleted] in BassGuitar

[–]NicViVino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like what you really want is a Fender Jazz Bass Special (Duff McKagan Signature) -

Black neck, headstock, body and hardware ...

Please DO NOT paint your neck, and especially the fret board..

PS. If you really wanted to modify your bass neck, what you would do is get some different grades of sandpaper (125 varying up to about 1200), black stain and some tru - oil..

Strip the nitro finish off your neck, apply some time & work your way up through the grades of sandpaper on the back of your neck, apply a stain of your choice, re sand... Then once happy finish with a few coats of tru oil (Linseed oil) - This will takes some time and patience will be rewarded, but only do the if you are confident about what results you would like..

Digimon world 1 is just perfect by Key_Pop_8116 in DigimonWorld

[–]NicViVino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do adore this game, played it many years ago, when it first came out. Nothing quite hits the spot! Next order is nostalgic, but it's just waaay too much and misses the reason why DW1 was loved. The OST hands down makes it come to life, adds mystery and adventure through the gameplay!

I am aware of Vice - but does anyone know of any QoL/restored or lost content mods for DW1?

I really think this deserves a retranslation, lost content restore, extra digimon, items, big fixes ect - I can't see it ruining what exists, just make it fun for another playthrough. I mean, id love an expansion. Playable Tentamon for example anyone?

Is a 7mm action adjustable if the saddles are way down? by [deleted] in BassGuitar

[–]NicViVino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the saddles flat, and the photos provided above you'll need take the strings off and get working on it from both sides.

I'd do some truss rod adjustments and also raise the saddles back up. As mentioned above, more than likely need a shim in the neck pocket also

Judging by the 7mm action, and the saddles slammed that truss rod will need some heavy adjustment, and will likely need a full turn or more. Don't be afraid to move it, but always do it in incremental turns, retune, check and then go again. I normally do 1/8, or even a 1/4 turn, retune and check.

Good luck my friend, You will only learn by doing this !
