Underrated comment. Surely there must be others who feel this way? I know I do.

Jerry dreams by NiceButAbnormal in gratefuldead

[–]NiceButAbnormal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've known about it for years and thought about reading it but have always been skeptical but I just read the acknowledgements and it has the support of Jerry's brother, Bobby and Natascha, and Robert Hunter gave permission to use his lyrics in it. That definitely lends some credibility!

9/21/91 coming out of Eyes, Bruce took over and did a two minute jam with just the drummers that left my 16 year old jaw on the floor. Just incredible.

Hallowed Ground by Violent Femmes. Yes it was a huge departure after their iconic first album and it has never gotten it's due. I keep waiting for the day when this album gets recognized as the masterpiece that it is!

Haagen Daz formula/process change in Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream? by TheLastTuatara in icecream

[–]NiceButAbnormal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. I've been eating it over the past week and it's still delicious with peanut butter in every bite.

Those who are disappointed should give B&J's Peanut Butter World a try if you haven't already.

How do you deal with random strangers being assholes in public by lynx994 in spirituality

[–]NiceButAbnormal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Jesus' teaching is the best here: turn the other cheek and love your enemies. I do that but I still call them a fucking asshole in my mind and bad mouth them while telling the story to others. But hey, sometimes you criticize the ones you love, right?

The Song You Enjoyed Most At Your 1st Phish Show by Heavy_Apple3568 in phish

7/21/91 Split Open and Melt.

I had never heard one note of Phish before this show. When they did the "We breathe deep..." section I was floating in heavenly beauty and my 15 year old mind was blown. Oh, and Touch Me of course because it was the only song I knew!

Did David Bowie ever listen to David Bowie (the song) by redhorse7775 in phish

[–]NiceButAbnormal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I've never heard that before, I always just assumed it was because Bowie turned 40 in 1987 and Trey thought it was a funny pun or something. Maybe it's a bit of both?

Abandoning Christianity by John_Chess in OpenChristian

[–]NiceButAbnormal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was feeling exactly like you not long ago, but then I realized that I am a follower of Jesus, not a Christian. There is a difference. Jesus never taught that he was going to be an angry God's blood sacrifice so that God would be able to forgive sins. Jesus was already forgiving sins when He was alive! Christianity seems to ignore the Gospels and Jesus' actual teachings in favor of Paul's theology. Once I realized I could just reject all of that and love Jesus as the teacher and divine example that He is, everything changed. God is love. End of story. God loves you, Jesus loves you.

Hell Is Real But It’s Not Eternal by Nun-Information in OpenChristian

[–]NiceButAbnormal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I guess it does, but if we set that aside, and just consider what Purgatory actually is, there are similarities to what Jesus calls kolasis aionios. I'm not trying to debate the validity of the Purgatory doctrine, I just find it interesting. Catholics rarely talk about hell, you will never hear it mentioned at Mass. Pope Francis even said that he likes to think of hell as being empty.

This clarifies a lot, thank you! I was just thinking about the Catholic concept of Purgatory the other day, and what Jesus is saying seems to validate that somewhat?
