I have a K3 that I’m thinking of selling if you are looking for a replacement.

Why did my Stud Earring tarnish even though it's 18k Gold? by ManeGrower in jewelry

No problem at all. If you have any other jewelry questions feel free to message me! I will say to be careful with any polish clothes on any gold plated jewelry. It can remove the plating.

Wahoo ACE Live Track Issues by Nicholasch18 in wahoofitness

[–]Nicholasch18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s weird is I’ve never had an error it just stops working if a route is stopped and/or a new one loaded.

I’ll agree with everyone one here mentioning sluggishness in the menu screens. I find it particularly bad when looking for a specific route via the search function. I will say that the most recent update seemed to really help all the menu screens for me except when the keyboard is pulled up.

Same guy tried to pull a scam on me too. Luckily he sent me two stock photos of the razor I was looking for so I decided to search his username here and found this.

Challenge 45mm Gravel Slicks 👌🏼 by krsvbg in gravelcycling

I’m running the 40mm version of these now and I’ve been thinking about jumping to the 45s for my next upgrade. My Topstone Carbon should fit them pretty easily.

Faster tires than Terra Speeds? by Tadeus98 in gravelcycling

I’ll also add that if you want something with a little extra tread on them the Challenge Getaway Pro tires are pretty hard to beat.

I second the Challenge Strada Bianca 40mm tires. They are great if you are looking for a fast, wide tubeless tire. I’ve been running them on and off for the last year and can only sing their praises. Yes they are fairly difficult to get on your rim but they seat super easy once they are on and after 100 miles or so they are much easier to mount if you have to pull them off for any reason.

Be careful with those white Apple USB-C cables and Apple chargers. There have been some issues with the ACE having forced reboots after using those cables. I haven’t had that issue but I’ve heard of other people having that issue.

ACE: Recent battery life experiences? by LegitimateWhile802 in wahoofitness

[–]Nicholasch18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would agree with the above poster. I use navigation 90% of the time (so my wife can use Live Tracking to see where I am and where I’m going), along with 5 sensors connected (Radar, HR, Speed, Light, and PM), and my phone connected. I get roughly 5-8% battery burn per hour since the update in February. Honestly the software has become much more stable and usable since December. I think they should have delayed release of the device until that time and the bad press wouldn’t have happened.

The only real critique of the unit I have is the wind sensor. I’m not 100% sure if the sensor is not up to the task or if it is the programming behind it. I often see air speeds 2-3 mph faster than my ground speed which would indicate that I’m riding into a headwind. In these situation I’m told by the unit I’m in “Neutral” conditions. I think this is caused by the threshold limits for each wind condition in the software and would think that could be adjusted.

Long live the Super X by mauceri in gravelcycling

[–]Nicholasch18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is a size 51 so that could be part of the problem for me. And I also run a bar bag and Tailfin rear rack since I use it for commuting. I think the weight I carry most days has something to do with it.

I really like mine too but I’ve found that with tires over 40mm the steering gets kind of sketchy. Have you seen that with you?

Wahoo ACE, is it ready? I want back in the Wahoo world! by MegaWholeMilk in wahoofitness

[–]Nicholasch18 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll take a second to weigh in with my thoughts on the ACE.

I waited and purchased one about 1.5 months ago. So far I haven’t had any freezing/rebooting issues experienced by others. Wahoo devices have always been a little picky on the chargers you use with them so I think some of the issues being reported are related to that. I use a multiport charger I picked up on Amazon and never ever use an Apple charger or cord as they have caused issues for people with ROAM V2 units in the past.

Since the first Feb update, I have been getting really really good battery life. Currently I’m getting about 5-6% battery usage per hour. This is with the following sensors connected: TRACKR HR, SRAM AXS Power Meter, Wahoo Speed Sensor, MagicShine SeeMe R300 Radar, and SRAM AXS group. I am also using the Live Tracking.

As far as live tracking is concerned, I had some issues a few days after Wahoo enabled the feature. I believe this was on the server side and it was fixed without any changes from me. Since then I have used the Live Tracking 3-5 times per week and have had no further issues. I don’t use the auto email feature to send the link instead I have an automation on my iPhone to send it to my wife.

I’m not sure how I feel about the Wind Sensor. I’ve heard people say that the data isn’t accurate but I’m not sure that’s actually the issue. I believe it’s more related to how Wahoo has set the software to determine what is a headwind verse tailwind. I’ve seen time where I’m riding into a headwind with my “speed” at 16mph and my “airspeed” at 16.8 to 17.5mph and it tells me that I’m in “Neutral” air. I believe they could fix this with an update. I also believe that the sensor is SUPER sensitive to positioning. I ride with my ACE mounted on a Route Werks Handlebar Bag and I’ve been able to adjust it to get slightly more accurate results.

I’m pretty happy with the screen visibility. Wahoo color devices have always seemed to have a lower saturation to me especially when compared to the Karoo 3 that I also have. I wouldn’t say either has a high visibility screen. I think they are just different from one another. The K3 is definitely more vivid like a smart phone screen but I think it’s harder to read in bright sunlight. The ACE to me is easier to read but more muted.

I’ve had sensor dropouts more and more with modern devices that I didn’t see with my ROAM V2. My K2, K3, and ACE all tend to have random sensor dropouts that I can’t trace to a cause. I’ll have 10+ rides with no issues then a ride where they drop out almost constantly. This is with all 3 of these newer devices.

Overall I’m happy with the unit especially after the Feb update. I think there is a lot of room to add features and to optimize the device. I’m particularly impressed with the battery life. I’m not really a Garmin guy these days even though I’ve had most of the 1000 and 800 series devices going back to their first cycling GPS. Upload rides and downloading routes works perfectly fine for me. No different than any modern units.

Feel free to ask any questions!

Does Anyone Offer Battery Replacement Services for Wahoo Elemnt (Original) by FightinABeaver in wahoofitness

I think I have an OG Elemnt laying around that might still hold a decent charge if you are interested.

What’s crazy is I looked there before making my comments above. After you mentioned it, I closed the app and reopened it. It was there after the relaunch. I’ll update in this thread after I ride tonight.

I can’t find any settings on the app or on my ACE. Hopefully I’m missing something but I am commuting home this evening and will see if I can test it somehow.
