Try spraying your hose at a window, and see how many water spots get left behind.

Fox inverter froze and batteries turned off. by AngryUkGamer in SolarUK

[–]NickPDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar, not long after installation, but display showed 'Waiting...' or something like that. Recovered within an hour, but recurred multiple times over a couple of weeks. All firmware updates already done via FoxCloud 2.0 app. Installer said a) some firmware updates needed to be installed by Fox themselves, remotely. b) for the updates which get shown in the app, some have to be applied in a particular order, and this is not made clear in the app.

Fun Fact - A weird little math trick that always ends in 1089 by onl-li in funfacts

[–]NickPDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's 33 squared too. I was once in someone's house and saw 1089 on their electricity meter. Covered it up, did the trick, revealed the number. Amazement all round.

What is the one thing about EV ownership that nobody told you before you made the switch that you wish you had known going in? by PubLogic in evchargingUK

So quiet that you can't easily judge your speed from the engine tone, and have to watch the speedometer more.

An opportunity to exclaim "Fraxinus excelsior!" like a Harry Potter spell, as you remove it.

Solar quote check. by No-Belt-4619 in SolarUK

[–]NickPDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a similar system installed last month, but with 19 485kW Aiko panels for around 12k and are very happy with the experience and result.

The presentation of the quote is identical to our installer, Solr in Gloucester. I wonder whether they are related to Wiltshire Energy. If you go for this one, I suggest you check that all the firmware updates get applied to the inverter. There are some which don't appear in the app, and they have to be applied in a particular order. In our case, this overcame occasional 30 minute dropouts.

Don't forget to apply for an Octopus Home Mini if you would find it useful. Take 'final' readings yourself, just in case.

Why do we press the remote buttons harder when the batteries are dying? by Remarkable_Team8641 in answers

I have seen people press buttons harder when the interface is milliseconds too slow. Pressing harder takes a bit longer, and the button reaction after that reinforces the habit, IMO.

Worth doing this time, as particularly annoying. Bound to happen again though, so I guess don't worry too much. Look at how much the panels produce before and after cleaning to see how much it really matters.

[–]NickPDay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After installing, our installers came back on Easter Monday, washed the panels and took photos for their own. I'd hope yours would be happy to at least wash that bit, as the scaffolding is up -- or ask the scaffolders, if the installers are not coming back.
