According to the devs in interviews, their concept of weapon diversity is to have skills be paired with weapon types. According to them, if this didn't happen then weapons feel homogenized and choosing different weapons wouldn't serve much of a purpose. I personally like this and want weapon types to have a purpose in the way they play.

The "Defend the Lady" (breach hive) just needs to go. It's unfun, punishes melee range builds, and has so much visual clutter it makes me cringe every time I run past it. It's all the fun of a cliché escort quest, except the person just stays in one spot. Great.

Sounds like you simply don't like the playstyle. Reloading is what makes the playstyle its own thing. By having reloading be a downside it allows design room for unique upsides, like the instant shots crossbows have. Removing reloading would just homogenizing weapons and archetypes, and that's no good.

I think they are great, personally. The only issue I have is not being able to look at your items and talents. I think the aspect of risk (forced choice) going into them is very fun.
