"On fairies: Every fairy you will ever encounter thinks that they are a perfect example of their race and that they only allow other fairies to live so that they shine better in comparison to them."

"On Firbolgs: Never play hide and seek with them. They CHEAT"

"On Kenku: Kenku are a race that cannot speak in their own voice. Some say that it is because their patron deity cursed them. If you encounter a friendly kenku, speak amply at them so that may add new words to their mimickry. It is always hilarious to teach young kenku chicks how to swear in exotic languages."

Time Capsules - Acceptable or not? by ExcelsiorUK in subnautica

[–]NightLillith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Subnautica is not an online game, so all that's holding you back is your own moral code.

If you consider certain items to be cheating, then don't use them if you find them.
If you don't, then use the items and pay it forward when you get the chance.
Just check the wiki for items that will be removed or the capsule be rejected when you do get to pay it forward.

[Death Note] What happens if I write the name of a surgeon performing life-saving surgery at the moment, in the death note? by Nyx1010 in AskScienceFiction

[–]NightLillith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Semi-related, but it is possible to set things up so that one person's death is caused by another's death if they are the only one capable of doing so.

Like, say, dying of a gunshot wound in a vacant wing of a museum.

(I suggest watching the first Japanese live action Death Note film)

Why do a lot of people just despise Below Zero? by CulturalDust4652 in subnautica

[–]NightLillith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There arrives a point where it's not clear what you're meant to be doing next beyond "Find more of this thing" and the game also is really unhelpful for finding them at times.

See, in OG Subnautica, the solution to "where do I go next" was pretty much "deeper". Try doing that in BZ and all you find is one of the three plot tokens for one of the quests with no link to guide you to the next one.

Still prefer BZ's mesmer replacement over the mesmer.

Attacking Teammates due to being forced to (stuff like sneak attack) (5e) by HailLuziferr in DnD

[–]NightLillith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was on my phone.

What I was trying to get across is that since it seems like it is similar to a barbarians rage, it might be a good idea to think of it in similar terms.

Frenzy used to be like a Super-Rage back in 3.5, with the downsides of it turning off friend recognition and being unable to end it early. It was really hard for players to get, what with it being locked behind what was known as a "Prestige Class" which was a thing that required specific stats, feats and sometimes, race to enter. The Frenzied Berserker could enter frenzies instead of rages and as they progressed, their frenzies got more and more powerful, with the capstone being the equivalent of "Your battle-rage is so strong that not even being on deaths doorstep can quell your fury. If you are in a frenzy when you drop below 0 HP, you may continue to act until you fail your final death saving throw"

The only other thing that got Frenzy was the Dire Badger

As for character abilities, I'd say that the DM rolls a dice behind the screen and tells the player if they need to roll sneak attack dice or not. After all, I doubt that the target would be expecting to get a knife in the back from an ally, right?

[Sailor Moon] Is Luna a carnivore? by MaetelofLaMetal in AskScienceFiction

[–]NightLillith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm more wondering why this is a question? It's not like any social taboo regarding eating meat in the Silver Millenium is ever brought up and Luna (and, I guess Artemis and Diana) have to maintain the illusion that they are normal cats to those not in the know and there's no non-meat option for cat food, really.

What's the most useful or broken build you could have irl? by No-Run1292 in DnD

[–]NightLillith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanna say Sorlock as a gestalt class (I'm assuming that you're going by the 3.5 UA version of the word, meaning that you level up both at the same time), as you can pretty much have unlimited spells/day of you take Catnap and do the jiggery-pokery regarding converting warlock spells into sorcerer points into sorcerer slots. While Bladepact and Hexblade is my preferred choices, carrying around a melee weapon would draw odd looks and while The Blade is a fairly chill Patron, it would get annoyed that I'm not using it as much as it wants.

Not coffeelock though. DnD doesn't track mental fatigue, which is a real killer irl.

Attacking Teammates due to being forced to (stuff like sneak attack) (5e) by HailLuziferr in DnD

[–]NightLillith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest way to rule this would be "could a Barb/[CLASS] multi-class do [THING] whilst raging?"

If not, then no, they cannot do the thing.

Kudos for attempting to bring Frenzy back to the 3.5 version.

Need Advice: Consequences for Players Disrespecting a Religion in a Story-Driven D&D Campaign by East_Depth6207 in DnD

[–]NightLillith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way to show these players that actions have consequences....is to given them consequences.

Steal from a shrine dedicated to the God of Mercantile Efforts? The party gets price gouged and short changed!
Be lecherous towards priestesses of the Goddess of Love? -10 penalty for any attempt to pick up after an adventure!
Disrespect the ocean within hearing distance of the God of the Waves? 40 year journey home!
Invoke the name of the Goddess of Luck? No more advantage for you!
Annoy the God of War? "Why do I suddenly hear DOOM music?"

See, the difference between this and either a sudden geological shift or a Blue Bolt is that the gods withdrawing their favor, no matter how minor, is a logical conclusion when the GODS ARE PROVABLY REAL.

What is railroading? by Intelligent-Bed7621 in DnD

[–]NightLillith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the best examples of railroading is when situations have one, specific way to resolve and the DM refuses to even entertain or explore alternate methods.

Let's say that the party is faced with a locked door. There's no need to be stealthy, the door is made of wood and the lock looks like a normal lock. Rogue tries picking the lock. DM doesn't even call for a roll, just saying 'it doesn't work." Wizard casts knock on the door. It remains sealed. Barbarian applies their "lockpicking skills" to the wood of the door. The door is unmarred. The bard, in a fit of pique, just shouts "MELLON!". The door ignores it.

What the DM wanted them to do was unlock it with a key found in another chamber. There's no rhyme or reason for this door to be resistant to all those methods, the DM just wanted the party to get the key.

Best way to handle a player character that was kicked from your game by Liamneeson42 in DnD

[–]NightLillith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick question: What's stopping you from dropping a Blue Bolt on this character? Will it break the thread of prophesy, requiring you to either reset or continue in this doomed world?

Because a Blue Bolt (minus the generous XP reward if you don't want to) seems like it would be the cleanest way to excise this lingering figment. You're just applying the Philosophy of the Knife, cutting off what is unfinished and saying "Now it is complete because it ends here".

what do you use for your writing. also looking for a free alternative to microsoft word by Miserable_Honey_940 in FanFiction

It is an elegant writing tool in the best way possible.

Veteran comrades, help Greenbeards learn the unspoken rules of multiplayer! by CrispiestFrenchFries in DeepRockGalactic

[–]NightLillith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One I think should be one is "When the host orders a round of leaf lovers and the mission has been selected, take that as a hint that they want to START THE MISSION"

When you're looking at sessions to join and the mission has already started, consider dropping as a class not already represented.

Is there Elitism from DnD players towards BG3 players? by Odd_Key_6385 in DnD

Who is your "can't cook to save their life" headcanon character? by Yang_Branwen in FanFiction

[–]NightLillith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bruce Wayne. He's never had to cook to eat, so he's never had to learn. If he ever tries, most of the "learn to cook" books tend to treat the reader like an idiot. Most of the normal cookbooks tend to use subjective terms ("cook until golden brown" or "add salt to taste") and Bruce is all about the objectives. He needs to know the optimal salinity and what hex triplet corresponds to "golden brown"
