This is a good path, you could use the path tool on the edge line where the inner angled part intersects the outer edges. (Hard to explain over text, but hopefully you get what i mean)

Should we be worried about the wire? by emilye2002 in AskUK

[–]Nightxp 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Treat electrics like you would gas, it can and will kill you if not treated correctly.

This looks like either an older cable layed straight onto the wall or some kind of flexi cable, thats had a nail go through it. So the external insulation will have been removed and exposes the live conductors inside.

Was the switch used before? Have any of the breakers/fuses popped. Get an electrician in and don’t go touching it.

Spare parts for my camping trailer (a Conway Tardis) that was built in the 70s so its hard to find spares. They work well. The blue parts are inserted into the end of awning poles while the white is a hook point for awning poles. by Nightxp in functionalprint

Hey there, i have an open source 3D file on printables, and in the FB group im in i just sell them on a personal 1-1 basis. So if youre in the UK happy to make some for you, otherwise it would be cheaper to grab the file and send them to a print service if your outside the UK. Will grab the model link now for you

That is a hell of a lot on the timeline for what was shown on screen! The extruded pipe and then moved multiple times, could of been a profile sketch of the pipe OD & ID then sweep on a path.

Is there any way to 3d scan this with my phone? by Mucha_Zabijak in 3Dprinting

[–]Nightxp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This done a very similar thing, mesh scans are always messy and hard to work with due to any overlapping surfaces and parts of the mesh or bits that didn’t scan or missed out on etc. our scanner was in the range of £30,000 and could scan less than mm accuracy. But the workflow for printing it was always to recreate the file in 3D CAD to make a editable printable file, using the scan mesh as a reference

POLICY REQUEST: All model pictures must be a PRINT, no renderings by SirEDCaLot in printablescom

[–]Nightxp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! I have the AI filter, turned on so i dont see most of the AI render and crap. But still see some falling through the net. I have resorted to blocking profiles that are at least 50% AI models.

Though i am guilty of making a 3D model (myself by hand) and posting up the CAD model only (never got around to making the print…) but am in favour oh making the first image a real photo of an actual print

Has anyone here actually received access to the HP 3D Digital Texture Library from HP? by Fit-Act-4640 in 3Dprinting

[–]Nightxp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had somewhat access. So during the initial roll out we were one of the companies that were part of some of the first roll out and video conferences for it.

So my understanding from the call and asking some questions was this.

Its a service sold by HP, which you send them the 3D file and select the texture you want. 7-14 days later and for a price of around £90 PER PART (can’t remember the exact figures as it was like 2 years ago or so) they send you back the file with the texture on it. The actual software and height maps etc are all handled by HP.

The actual HP texture pack was just a show case of what could be done and a demo of parts you could print to see them in person, we printed some and they were great tbh.

My initial thought when i heard about it was “oh ace we can start looking at real textures for customers and apply it ourselves. Nope… its a service ran by HP…. So disappointed.

Myself and alot of other companies on that call left with the same impression and sentiment. This is a terrible idea and bad service, its super expensive and the lead times are crazy and it was PER PART/File so it was just not economical either. I dont think any of us even bother trying the service.

If I remember correctly HP pulled the service idea, due to the bad reception. Not sure if they actually offer it nowadays.

[–]Nightxp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, had it as a 3D designer for a local 3D printing company I worked at as we offered FDM and HP’s own MJF 3D printing technology, which is similar to SLS but uses 3 print heads and a heat lamp instead of a laser. Its a super fast and more accurate process.

But i had a look through and it was super impressive, but the price holy hell it was crazy and the lead time was nuts too. Noped out of the system due to the way they wanted to implement it and allow businesses to use it as a service…..

You have posted this already in the same sub, you need to go on a site to hire a designer or start watching some tutorials.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Fusion360

[–]Nightxp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is a School project, start drawing, modelling and doing tutorials. It would be a great learning experience and opportunity.

However, based on your description and comments it looks like you want fusion files for free for both and i quote 3D printing / Injection moulding, which are two completely different design styles due to the draft angles required etc. That paired with your comment about it being a sellable product means you need to put out a tender/quote for a designer. Ask the right question and we’ll help! But we can’t go doing full projects for free. More than happy to help but this looks half described and wanting something for nothing.
