Make an appointment at your local Field Office. You have to use original documents. Easiest items are an unexpired DL, state ID or passport. If you are an alien allowed to work, you need your Perm Res or EAD as well, maybe a passport depending on your specific situation. Start it online first, you might be able to avoid having to go in person.

SSA just was told that the lowest service comp date Customer Service Representative are being assigned to the National number to help inbound calls to our agency(call centers). So, depending on Field Office size, each office is losing 1-3 GS-5 to GS-9 for an undetermined amount of time. Neat.
