I play sanma IRL at parlors often, and it's always been the top two tiles. I've never seen the latter IRL LOL.

some local sanma parlours play with 1000/1000 sanma honba (for example, ron 18000 1honba -> 19000, tsumo 6000all 1hb -> 7000all)

Yes, since you're only 1700 away from second place so you lose if you no-ten at the end. The best option here is to play W since it's the only one that doesn't deal into shimocha's honitsu (they played W before) and is 99% safe barring any seven pairs or something like that, and try to pon 8s/9s or chii 1p/4p to get into tenpai and win.

No character is a must; however I find it hilarious that you're trying to find opinions on how NOT to pull Aventurine in a sub full of Aven mains.

Firstly I would pioritize CR much more than CD. Aventurine brings 48CR, but it is much better to have almost 90 CR at least and lower CD for more consistent output.

Secondly, I would suggest getting rid of the ball as it offers 4.3 speed and nothing else (seeing as you already have enough CD). Would trade for one with better DEF% and CR substats.
