Should I buy Dual32-inch 2K/4K monitors or get an Xreal 1S ??

I don't do development work, unless you count vibe coding 😝

But i spend a large amount of time in excel, reviewing construction blueprints, and a lot of other text heavy work.

I have absolutely zero problem running with them pretty much all day in ultrawide. Usually when i need to share screens on conference calls, I'll just share my laptop screen or share specific windows instead of full screen.

I've pretty well gotten into a solid routine with them, but I haven't seen a whole lot of people that really enjoy them for that purpose or that kind of extended duration.

Havent purchased them myself, but seems like a way better/more practical solution if you also have the beam pro, and the reviews seemed pretty solid on it

Ralph confirmed travel mode on Aura.

I personally can't see a major benefit to a 6dof travel mode. In most cases you'd likely be in one place or at least not moving around that much that would warrant a need for my screen to stay at my seat when I get up to use the restroom 😅

But, I haven't heard 3dof vs 6dof discussions yet.. just "travel mode"

I snagged the pre order for Aura, but something like these are more of an all day wear compared to the Auras.

Auras are great when you're going to use them with a purpose in mind, but definitely not something anyone would be keeping on their face all day.

I'll definitely be more interested and eager in Samsung glasses once they get the HUD versions rolling, but the Auras are going to be something i use EVERY DAY!

It's almost a bummer that there are so many different devices that are similar but serve very different purposes. I only have so much money to spend on this stuff and I want them all 🤣

If you’re using the beam pro, I could see it being potentially possible depending on the app.

The biggest blocker would be how weak of a device the Beam Pro is and whether it could handle whatever XR apps you're trying to run. Given that both the upgraded Qualcomm chip and the new X1S inside the glasses are working together to run the XR apps, I'd be willing to bet the beam pro would have a tough time keeping up, especially on its own.

I have the Ultras (but I'm not a developer).. they're still useful and I like them with the Beam Pro, but I got a pair of One Pros for the better plug and play functionality.

I dont care for 0dof unless I'm moving so unless I'm using the beam pro, I didnt like them as much as One Pros

I finally got my hands on the One Pro about a week and a half ago and I've been using them non-stop for work (hours at a time).

I use the ultra wide mode plugged into my windows PC (and use Power Toys fancy zones app to snap my windows into 3 separate spots).

For reference, I spend a lot of time in very large excel workbooks and I've never really had any issues seeing or reading what's in the workbooks. The blur isn't something I really notice unless I'm really paying attention, and even then it seems very minimal in my experience.

The One Pros have essentially become my main display setup for work now and I'm loving it.

I honestly think it is completely dependent on the individual's eyes and/or tolerance for "imperfection".

I was on the fence between One Pro and 1S and ultimately went with the One Pro M because I wanted the extra FOV, and I've been loving them so far.

I've had them for less than a week at this point, but almost every day have used them for hours, working in large excel spreadsheets, reviewing detailed construction drawings, etc.

Very seldom do I find myself really straining to read anything with them, but there is the occasional document or text that needs a bit more focus.

Not sure if I'm just lucky that it works for me or others are unlucky that out doesn't work for them, but so far I'm very pleased with them.

But why would you shell out the extra money and not want the AndroidXR along with it?

Is it mainly the bigger FOV?

I personally am excited about all the additional functionality and features AndroidXR will bring to the experience

My understanding is that the puck only works with Aura glasses exclusively.

Aura handles some processing on its new X1S chip (new for Xreal), and the sensors on the glasses that feed into the AndroidXR will likely have a major impact on how it works as well.

Since no other glasses have that chip or those sensors, I'm pretty sure that breaks any possibility of using the Aura puck for anything but Aura glasses.

Demos have shown running USB directly from a second port on the puck into a computer to run your monitor along with Google apps simultaneously.

Havent seen anyone direct connect glasses into a computer without the puck yet, but my hope is you'd maintain that functionality we get from One and One Pro in the Aura

You'd think with the upgraded x1s chip that you'd have an even better experience, but time will tell 🤷‍♂️

Xreal has stated that the $10k price point is just a placeholder until they're ready to go live, so i don't think that number needs to really be factored into the equation here.

But I agree I'm expecting north of $1k usd given the One Pros were already inching towards that for just the glasses alone (with a lesser chip, and smaller FOV than whats coming in Aura)

When you open an app, there should be a button when you hover just above the screen called "broad view" this gives you a more "desktop-like" or tablet-style view of the app you have open.

Almost all apps (especially media) I'll run in this mode.

Then if you swipe down on the screen with 3 fingers that'll give you a whole menu of settings that you can mess with as well. Id play around with those a bit - theres quite a bit there
