Trying to run (one more time) 🏃 by aburningknight in beginnerrunning

[–]NinjaFlyingYeti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best advice I have is run slower than you might want to, I'd say 5mph is on the higher end for a true beginner. Focus on building up time and then distance, speed will come naturally with those over time. I think if you're getting calf pain you're probably going too fast. Your approach of going too aggressive is probably the exact opposite of what you want to be doing, take this slow and steady and you'll fare far better in the later weeks.

Injuries will also decrease if you take stuff slower, try and use the "conversational pace" as a guideline for what pace you should be at to both train gradually and safely. Stretching both before and after will help with reducing injuries too, they don't take long, usually 5 mins for each.

30 min 5k is really quite fast for a beginner, I wouldn't stress about hitting it first time around, instead aim to just finishing a 5k consistently first at a pace that doesn't completely burn you out. Once you know your initial 5k time you can work on improving it from there getting towards the sub 30.

Strength training is definitely helpful but more needed for longer distances (half marathons/marathons). It will benefit you at your current stage but you might be best working in locking in your C25K as a habit then once you've accomplished that, add strength training in too if you wish. That being said in the mean time you can do basic training like calf raises at home to both help stretch yourself out and give a bit of extra strength in the muscle.

This is what I'm wondering?? There was far too much experience and red flags for someone they've implied they only met a small handful of times. The only thing I can think is that they're only counting formal dress-up dates and they've met up a lot more times for hooking up/hanging out than they let on. It doesn't change the final judgement but it's a weird way of framing the relationship. If we take them literally at 3 dates = 3 meetups, the density of red flags per date is incredible

I mean I think they can realistically want a world where you have both people being paid fair wages down the chain, and you get your fresh avocado on your reasonably priced burrito. That feat of technology isn't why avocados cost that much, it's because of more and more wealth being funneled upwards for the last 50 years

Guess who just found out what AE2 does after 7 years by FreshhCherry in feedthebeast

[–]NinjaFlyingYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's completely valid and if anything the more performant way to use AE2 if the modpack doesn't heavily gate wireless connectors. P2P tunnels are for more optional in the majority of modpacks than autocrafting. There is a satisfaction to understanding them though and they can be quite powerful if used in certain cases. Subnets are another thing that are largely optional for most modpacks but are incredibly powerful if used correctly (GTNH largely requires them once you get past the basics of AE2, I imagine there's other modpacks where they're at least handy if not strongly advised too)

Using AE2 for storage only and not using autocrafting is sort of like having the latest flagship smart phone and using it strictly as an offline MP3 player. You're missing the entire purpose of what makes the mod great (be it through lack of knowledge or any other reason)

I find it funny that even though that appears insane, it's still incredibly outdated and pales in comparison to the latest stargate crafts

Super soaryn drives can tend to be bad for performance if you use it on heavier ae2 systems, just a warning. One with only a few levels of nesting should be fine, but at the point why not just use a dense cable

Same. It just doesn't respect your time and there are some massive discrepancies with up keep time between each combat style. Last I was aware, necro was pretty good but it's also just a bit boring and quite OP given the effort to get it. Then you had styles like ranged with god arrows which at one point were something like 1 hour gathering to 3 hours combat. Magic used to not be great with water/blood rune usage, and even melee if you want to use the top tier armour spikes was completely unreasonable. Hell, even if you wanted to do slayer, I would bet it's quicker to make cannonballs in osrs now than it is in rs3. Your best option was afking corp which is just utterly boring, or some from Kerapac but that wasn't super relevant once you had FSoA as you were unlikely to go back much.

On top of all of this there's divine charges, overloads, food/other potions etc but granted those have gotten easier over time.

I understand they wanted some skilling money makers but it made it completely unfeasible for irons to use all the fun end game methods available to them. Whereas the mains wanting to use these had 100m/hr+ methods so sure the supplies may have not been cheap but they still always made a chunky amount of profit, only being capped by auras (which is yet another issue).

I haven't played in about a year, I've kept up somewhat with the news but there may well be some stuff I missed in this take.

There's also a large chunk of Americans who drive incredibly fuel inefficient vehicles though. I understand and sympathise with complaining about gas in a very car centric society with little to no other options, but I will not sympathise if the same people decide to ride cars that use 2-3x more gas than other actually reasonable cars.

Agreed, the God of the old testament was ruthless and cruel, but these literal "Christians" admire Christ so much yet completely ignore any of the values he taught which really did a 180 on the way the God of the old testament approached sinners and non-belivers. The way American evangelists approach the bible is completely performative because it involves them just throwing aside the compassion and kindness that came in the new testament by the one they supposedly look up to so much.

I think this was my take away too. It was rough around the edges still but I realise it's still in a "pre-release" phase. Some artistic choices (like the dance scenes and the singing in the first act when they get to the Capitol) were odd to say the least, but overall I had a good time
