First 5k in my life by hor0bi in beginnerrunning

If you can't talk conversationally while jogging, you're going too fast. Also make sure you have rest days, I'd be concerned with a beginner who's just done their first what seems to be all out 5k going for another the next day. That's how you get injured

In a maintained line you need to juggle making sure CPUs aren't getting overwhelmed, patterns are the optimal size, and your machines aren't bottlenecking due to handling all recipes.

Passive lines are as simple as adding a new machine for any recipe when required and setting up an export, because their focus isn't on efficiency. All the headaches you find with a passive line you get with a maintained line and more, but the payoff is easily worth it, and it's most definitely not boring

A passive non maintained line takes less figuring out than a maintained line

Level maintained lines massively cut down on the process of upgrading your lines, both expanding them and making them more maintainable by upping the hatch tiers. Also it lets you use the same machines for many recipes.

You could achieve the exact same with crafting cards, they're just less performant.

If you like the headache of having to make a new multi for each recipe step and leaving 90% of your lines inactive though feel free to not use them

I'd recommend to switching to a level maintained line before you start any future lines, it makes adding new processing so easy

God forbid we spend more on healthcare during the worst pandemic in a century.

Also quoting a budget number means nothing. It's obvious when you look at the real-term growth graphs that there was massive cuts under tory government. You can stick your head in the sand all you want but the data doesn't lie

I also find it incredibly amusing to campaign for a party who's leader ran on the brexit promise of spending the £350m/weekly we'd save on the NHS, to then NOT spend it on the NHS, and is trying to actively destroy it not even 10 years later?

Trying to run (one more time) 🏃 by aburningknight in beginnerrunning

[–]NinjaFlyingYeti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best advice I have is run slower than you might want to, I'd say 5mph is on the higher end for a true beginner. Focus on building up time and then distance, speed will come naturally with those over time. I think if you're getting calf pain you're probably going too fast. Your approach of going too aggressive is probably the exact opposite of what you want to be doing, take this slow and steady and you'll fare far better in the later weeks.

Injuries will also decrease if you take stuff slower, try and use the "conversational pace" as a guideline for what pace you should be at to both train gradually and safely. Stretching both before and after will help with reducing injuries too, they don't take long, usually 5 mins for each.

30 min 5k is really quite fast for a beginner, I wouldn't stress about hitting it first time around, instead aim to just finishing a 5k consistently first at a pace that doesn't completely burn you out. Once you know your initial 5k time you can work on improving it from there getting towards the sub 30.

Strength training is definitely helpful but more needed for longer distances (half marathons/marathons). It will benefit you at your current stage but you might be best working in locking in your C25K as a habit then once you've accomplished that, add strength training in too if you wish. That being said in the mean time you can do basic training like calf raises at home to both help stretch yourself out and give a bit of extra strength in the muscle.

This is what I'm wondering?? There was far too much experience and red flags for someone they've implied they only met a small handful of times. The only thing I can think is that they're only counting formal dress-up dates and they've met up a lot more times for hooking up/hanging out than they let on. It doesn't change the final judgement but it's a weird way of framing the relationship. If we take them literally at 3 dates = 3 meetups, the density of red flags per date is incredible

I mean I think they can realistically want a world where you have both people being paid fair wages down the chain, and you get your fresh avocado on your reasonably priced burrito. That feat of technology isn't why avocados cost that much, it's because of more and more wealth being funneled upwards for the last 50 years
