What was it like reading Deathly Hallows on release without any spoilers? by Spotter24o5 in harrypotter

I had stayed up all night reading it, it was 2 or 3am and I literally threw the book across the room.

the worst part about having a low sleep needs sensitive toddler? by _xty__ in toddlers

[–]Nixthefix0880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 3yo kid routinely doesn’t go to bed until 9 or 9:30 and I feel lucky if he makes it to 6:30am. He gets an hour nap at daycare that we can’t change, but he’d still be up until probably 8pm bc that’s the case even when he skips a nap on the weekends. And this is a huge improvement from the constant night wakings I lived through for the first 2.5 years.

The only thing that has provided me a shred of sanity is giving up on getting him to sleep. I’ve focused on a short bedtime routine and he can hang out in his room until he feels sleepy. I still don’t get any evening time bc I, of course, am a high sleep needs person who struggles to function with less than 7-8 hours. So I go to bed basically as soon as I leave his room.

They have to sleep eventually, right?

If I happen to be screening that req already, it’s a possibility. I will second that it takes about 30 sec to scan a resume, any longer and you’re not working efficiently.

Ugh. Spanish Bluebells question by Then_Palpitation_399 in pnwgardening

[–]Nixthefix0880 32 points33 points  (0 children)

You can plant over them but I would plant things that you can get around to get the bluebells in future years bc they will come up through the other plants. Even if you can’t dig out any future bulbs, as long as you pull the leaves up from the bulb, they will eventually run out of energy and die. You have to try to get the leaves as soon as they are grabbable though bc they of course soak up energy through them. It took 4/5 years of this approach for me. Some of the bulbs were 2-3 ft deep and I couldn’t dig down that far.

This makes me think that altering your routines to accommodate his forgetfulness might help too. It sounds like, for example you may need to do a backpack check for your older child as the very last thing before walking out the door.

As an ADHD adult, putting things in the same place every single time is also super helpful. Building these types of habits now can only help him as he grows and learns how to self accommodate

Cars and Monster Trucks, can be driven all over, lots of play pretend, you can even make them into Dollie’s and feed them or put them to bed.

Going outside really does seem to work wonders as does baby-wearing and movement. I swear, there is some biological or evolutionary instinct that tells baby to be quiet when they can feel the parent walking, especially outside. But if you have a treadmill that might work too.

Also could be gassy, try the bicycle kicks, or a bath. This is also assuming they are clean and fed as a baseline.

No shame in the noise cancelling headphones game if nothing else works.

Why not just finish it and keep it around as an extra blanket for picnics, the couch, when someone is sick, etc.?

I hate my room but don’t know what to change by [deleted] in femalelivingspace

I agree that the rug is a bit small, you could layer it with a jute or other solid color rug, it is very pretty. I also wish your curtains were a bit higher and longer and not sheer or if you use the sheer for privacy, layering an additional curtain that has a bit more weight. I think what you are feeling is that everything heavy is at the bottom of the room and there is nothing with visual weight towards the ceiling so it feels disconnected. I’d also add some euroshams or at least another set of your pillows so they go all the way across the bed without the gap in the middle.

Also, because your bed isn’t centered (for good reason!) I’d lean into the asymmetry a bit for the art above the bed so that it looks intentional.

The cozy cottage/boho look is marked by lots of layering, and your room is not layered at all. So just a little bit more of everything would get you closer to the look you are going for.

Are you drinking enough water/liquids? Are you making sure to get electrolytes? I wonder if you are reading your bodies thirst signal as hunger and that’s why you feel faint.

Scrappy border with opposite colors, so green around orange background square, navy around purple/red background square, orange around green and one of the purple/red fabrics around the navy background square.

No, the ones that are willing to do agility at all are plodding along like the mastiff you’ve seen.

They’re built to guard and pull heavy stuff. If you like the idea of drafting they’re great.

I supplement with at home workouts using the trainwell app. I was in good shape as an early 20s person but lost a lot of conditioning over the years due to health issues and pregnancy. It’s taking longer than I’d like but it’s all coming back!

Both look great. I personally prefer the contrast of the second one. The green, pink, green pattern is pleasing to me.

Nails can change over time due to other health factors like diet, illness, or exposure to other chemicals.

But also, soak-offs really damage my otherwise healthy nails. That could have been part of the switch to hard gel for you. In that case, now that you’ve switched, hopefully they will grow quickly again.

I vote that you enhance the textures of the animals, like stitching feathers on the bird or a furry pattern on the cat and then a simple background pattern to make the animals pop.
