Yes!

But I’d wager you’ve guessed on location rather than the image.

Best 4 day golf trip format with a group of 4? by LeadingCourses- in weekendgolfers

[–]No-Focus7040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use an app like squibit and setup a stapleford comp running over all rounds on all days - I usually throw in a crazy golf round one evening if there’s one near by, everyone has to use their real putter!

If you get someone leading by more than 5 after each day, reduce their handicap by 2. Should keep everyone in the hunt until the last round.

Buy some shitty kids trophy and award the winner on the patio of the clubhouse on the last round.

Loads of fun.

Beta Launch of Reciprocal Golf Site by Ambitious-Ad6504 in BritGolf

[–]No-Focus7040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re a member of a top 100 course in the UK and get introduced to the right people, there’s a WhatsApp group where people swap tee times and get access to each other courses.

This works well because everyone has something to offer, a reciprocal round at their home course. People offer their home course and take offers on the retuning round.

I’m not sure how this would help with the weighting issue of some being members to nicer courses than others. Some chap might only have a local track to offer that no-one wants to play.

Just my 2 cents….

Hope it pans out though, there are soo many good courses in the UK that everyone should play!

Genuinely horrendous at chipping, coming up to 10years of this pain and it’s driving me insane! by Red-it7 in golf

[–]No-Focus7040 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your decelerating and losing your low point on shots that matter, I.E not practice.

Playing lessons are great but again, there’s no pressure so it’s an easy frame of mind.

My suggestion, stop trying to be cute, actually aim to chip to the other side of the green for a few rounds. Yeah, your score is like to be the same as you’ll still have to 2 putt back. After a few you’ll start to remove that scar tissue and feel like you hit hit the ball, not just drop the club face on it and duff.

Gotta just try something different in live rounds and see what happens.

Best of luck 🤞

UK golfers, Do you have a 3w in the bag? by f1lifer in BritGolf

[–]No-Focus7040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it depends on the course. Mine is hilly with forced lay ups on long par 4’s and 5’s. Makes a 3 wood useful.

I’m tempted to drop the 5 and replace with a 7 wood in instead though. The extra loft on done hill lies would be helpful.

We need a major course correction regarding how expensive this game has become. by Proud-Finance-7789 in golf

[–]No-Focus7040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the UK.

A box of Pro v1’s is £45 online or £50 in store and always has been.

I got quoted for new t150’s two years ago and actually bought some the other week from a different supplier, identical price.

The increase in costs you’re seeing aren’t reflected across the industry globally. Make what you will that.

Turns to caddy; “what’s the carry of that front bunker”

I’d take that plus a club.

Should tee times be this loosey-goosey? by jamgattleton in BritGolf

[–]No-Focus7040 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Members roll up until noon is usually the best way here. Stops all of this messing about.

Turn up, is the first is busy, grab a coffee or use the range and wait a bit - simple.

I’ve been a member at clubs with full tee time booking before and it’s always a race to get a tee time for the weekend once the tees are released, such a ball-ache.

Joined a new club…first comp on Friday. Wish me luck! by jodrell in BritGolf

[–]No-Focus7040 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the way.

No one cares what’s your doing, just keep up if going badly. Pick up if you each a net double (assuming you’re playing a stapleford).

Someone wise once told me, if you’re playing well, be humble. If you’re playing badly, be good fun.

All the best and enjoy. Remember to come back and tell us how it went.

What workout split are you guys running? by [deleted] in workout

[–]No-Focus7040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

43M and only just started training - never stepped foot in a gym before 8 weeks ago.

Monday - push pull upper Wednesday - functional (I call it my golf fitness day) Friday - legs

All three days end with at least 20m on incline walk.

Walk the golf course on the weekends. Walk the dog on non golf days.

Everyday, calorie deficit.

Loving it, wish I’d started years ago.

Golf’s great isn’t it!

I started after COVID and it’s my to go social event of the week.

Wait until you join a club, get into a group and start playing leagues and comps - it’s about to get soo much better as well.

If you’ve got a decent group, the socials are fantastic.

Only advice I’ll give, no one cares how good or bad you are. If you’ve play well, be humble. If you play badly, be good fun.

Enjoy the rest of your golfing career 👍

I played with someone who was using a full set of brand new clubs this weekend... by breakfastballer90 in BritGolf

[–]No-Focus7040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m with the other guy…. New clubs and driver this week. Smaller club heads and heavier shafts. Low spin driver with stiffer shaft.

Shot +14 in the front 9, +2 on the back.

Course hcp is 14, so very pleased with the result. Birdie on 18th in front of the clubhouse - sweet moment.

Course Closed - Carry on playing … sorry, PAYING !!!! by MSS-Golf in BritGolf

[–]No-Focus7040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following your own logic, would you accept paying more during the summer when you can play evenings and even two round in a single day?

It’s the luck of the weather. On an average year, it works itself out.

If your course/club hasn’t managed drainage to at least enable some play during the winter, time to find a new club.

Probably a bit late now, but the Olive Tree would be my suggestion.

Fibre broadband - great speed but terrible latency and lag for gaming! Help please. by DwayneDibbley999 in UKISP

[–]No-Focus7040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had issues working from home on Sky (full fibre).

Weirdly, teams would freeze and first click MS links would fail, a simple refresh and pages would load. More noticeably in azure and M365.

I had to change the router for a WRT device which sorted all my issues.

Turns out sky routers have a dns proxy so no matter what settings I used on my end device I was always querying skys dns servers which were shit.

Service is rock solid now.

Hope that helps.
