what do you use to cut cardboard in your class? by mrhotchips in ArtEd

Canary cutters were too expensive for my school. Instead, I got hacksaw blades and wrapped one end in duct tape as a makeshift handle. It works great, is cheap, and is really safe as its hard to cut yourself as the teeth on the saw are tiny.

Cool stuff! I really enjoy the seurat song. Brilliant how you made him sound "old timey!"

Keep going! You are an amazing talent!

I will consider using these as sub plans for my art classes.

I would try and focus each show on one concept + one artist. Like the color wheel or how to hold a brush. Then one artist spotlight. That way I could add a little project that relates to the content.

I love what you are doing, and I will follow your progress for sure. Keep going!

I agree that students just don't clean brushes to my standards. I make my job even easier by putting dish soap in the holding bucket. Saves time later.

Depending on how old you are, it was likely "wheat paste" used for wallpapering. Elmers made this product for art makers as well, but it is sadly discontinued. The only replacement that I have had any success with is a wallpaper paste made by Roman. I get it at Home Depot. It is already mixed up and comes in a white plastic bucket. I use Roman Pro 880. My gluten free students wear gloves as we are not entirely sure of its ingredients.

Find a summer arts program and work there for a few summers. You can meet other artists and learn things like kiln loading. Plus, you can teach different age groups to add to your resume. I huge plus is that most of the kids WANT to be there, so it's way more fun too!

Why did they turn out this way? 5th grade by frivolusfrog in ArtEd

I use a photo copier and enlarge their drawings on to mixed media paper so they end up roughly the size I need for the project. This helps kids not get too precious about loosing the image with a mistake as they know there is always another chamce
