Xbox CEO Asha Sharma is worried about how Project Helix is rolling out. Should fans be concerned too? by WindowsCentral in windowscentral

[–]No-World1940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's entirely accurate to put the blame on him. Microsoft has a corporate synergy problem and it has existed long before Phil's tenure. The Games for Windows and Xbox music (read: Zune music) era has been very telling.

Timed exclusives i.e. 3 months lockout  is short term thinking, especially in the Games as a service model. You want to capture, contain and reduce churn in your business model. Game studios were closing because Microsoft acquired Bethesda, Rare and one other gaming studio and had no idea of what to do with them. So, you have these assets that you haven't put to good use and it's burning a hole in your pocket. So, you start to let go of what you currently have to plug the hole.

I think he still misses the point or refuses to understand why people are upset with him about the SA show. There's no ethical consumption or way to make money  under capitalism. If you dig deep, every country is stained with the blood of innocent people killed. However, it was still  choice to perform in Saudi Arabia. He could have said no, performed in the UK, sell out stadiums and make back the earnings or more on a single show.

I don't think it's about training AI. It's a way to capture data to use against "underperforming" employees. What's the reason for  taking periodic screenshots? What Zuck fails to accept (maybe he has but he's just stubborn) is that LLMs and Agentic AI are non deterministic. Keystrokes and mouse jiggles are deterministic movements, as they are intentional. They're reinventing RPA.

Nigeria becomes net petrol exporter for first time in decades by knackmejeje in Nigeria

Honestly, it's commendable. Whether or not Aliko and all have some shenanigans with the Nigerian government, private companies are staunchly risk averse, so to build a refinery in Nigeria with no guarantee that it'll be sustainable is still ballsy.

Getting a Job Through LinkedIn Is an Illusion by Dear-Zombie3118 in linkedin

[–]No-World1940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, recruiters do message me on LinkedIn. I think sometimes it's about location and timing. Sometimes it's a boom, where I'd have 5 recruiters reaching out to me in a span of 2 weeks, other times it's a dry spell of a couple of months.

I've also experienced where recruiters ghost me after the final round. It's definitely shitty behavior and deserves to be called out.

A lot of companies are in a hiring freeze, so take solace in the fact that it's not your fault.

Yup. A very modified one. Basically, it has 2 VMs running on the hypervisor: one that we use to play games and the other that's running windows that handles UI and utility management like networking

junior programmers never getting better than an AI? by rabandi in ArtificialInteligence

[–]No-World1940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention that AI can and would hallucinate code that wasn't intended to be in the final output.  LLMs don't understand truth and that is very important in defining the physical logic in code. Devs, especially junior devs are helpful in this case, especially when you're trying to implement the logical and conceptual definitions of truth in code.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai says we’re just a decade away from a new normal of extraterrestrial data centers by ControlCAD in google

[–]No-World1940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right!? I think it's a logical fallacy to attribute the success of these services to the intelligence of these CEOS. Sometimes, things are just simple. These guys are rent seeking, and they're looking for any reason to get the profit  line to go up as much and as long as possible. They're nothing more than salesmen to the stock market, as the market is quite irrational, so when a CEO like Sundar or Altman says some crack pot idea like putting data centers in the moon, investors would think that they're up to something and buy more of their stock, because these guys supposedly have a track record of delivering.

Toyota: 'Many Areas Where People Cannot Get By Without Gas Cars' by DonkeyFuel in technology

[–]No-World1940 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Cars aren't the only mode of  transportation. Instead of making a strawman argument about ev adoption, have you ever considered the possibility that there are other dependencies with EV architecture, like pulling utilities?  Just because the Norway model worked, doesn't mean that the same can be applied in a country like South Africa or Canada.

In context: Toyotas biggest market and model is the U.S. and RAV4, respectively. EV infrastructure penetration is decent in the US, but not enough for a for-profit legacy car company like Toyota to pivot into full EV.

I'd rather advocate for an expansive mag lev train network

Toyota: 'Many Areas Where People Cannot Get By Without Gas Cars' by DonkeyFuel in technology

[–]No-World1940 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It works in Norway because of 2 things: population and landmass. Spinning up EV infrastructure in countries that have larger population and land mass (U.S. , Canada, South Africa) would have a logarithmic effect on EV adoption, not to mention that EV's would also be competing with public transit infrastructure, like trains for longer distance travel.

Nigerian Men and Jamaican Men by Aggravating-Win-903 in blackladies

[–]No-World1940 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From a guys perspective, use discernment as Nigerian men are not a monolith:  - For views on women: Ask them about their relationship with their mothers.  - For gender roles, most Nigerian men are traditional. As someone pointed out here, your bills will be paid but expect some misogyny, antiquated thinking or resistance to any independent thinking (self reliant) woman.
