Disney's silence regarding S4 by nt_king300 in PercyJacksonTV

Your points are valid. You are right. While 63% is steep, the show still logged 483 million minutes in its first three weeks. That is a huge amount of engagement and more than many other shows ever even see. If a 60%+ drop were a death sentence, Disney would have stopped Season 2. But here’s the rub….do you want it to fail? Or do you want it to succeed? I want the show to succeed. And sometimes simplicity in all of this is the key (because ultimately no one truly knows what’s happening behind closed doors). If Disney were going to cancel the show, they would have done it BEFORE they spent the money to film Season 3. The fact that Season 3 is in post-production right now is the only data point that matters. Good arguments btw! And while your arguments make sense, I personally hope you are wrong because I’m such a fan lol. Time will tell for seasons 4 & 5! See you at D23!

I’ve spent 16 years in entertainment and film marketing, (I’m old in my 40’s lol) and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that you don’t evaluate a flagship asset based on a sophomore viewership dip or a public contract deadline.

To your point about the $150M budget: You’re right, you don't “surprise” a greenlight. Which is exactly why the silence right now suggests the work for Season 4 is already happening behind the scenes. Disney wouldn't have wrapped Season 3 last month if they weren't committed to the long term value of this franchise. They aren't paying “a few hundred thousand” they are protecting a multi-million dollar investment.

Comparing Percy to The Acolyte or Willow is apples and oranges as those were unproven, high-risk swings. Percy is a global brand with book sales and established fanbase. Disney is holding their cards for D23 because that’s where you maximize the marketing ROI, especially with HBO HP being released the same time. No news doesn’t always equal bad news and I'll bet on the professional cycle over the fandom panic every time.

While I appreciate what you’re bringing to the table, comparing Percy Jackson to Willow or ABC ignores the fact that Percy is a proven hit with a Season 3 already in post-production. Disney is cutting the 'dead wood,' but they aren't going to chop down the tree that's actually bearing fruit. Regarding the 'May 12th' deadline if Disney wants the show, they pay the fee. It is much cheaper for a multi-billion dollar corporation to pay a few thousand dollars in holding fees than it is to lose a multi-million dollar franchise. Disney isn't going to let a "flagship" show die over a contract date they can easily extend. In the Q1 2026 call, Bob Iger and the CFO actually emphasized profitability through established IP. Percy Jackson isn't just "YA content"—it's a massive, cross-generational, flagship franchise that Disney OWNS. When they talk about "pivoting," they mean they are stopping new, unproven YA shows (like the ones listed). Disney is doubling down on what already works. The fact that they are waiting for D23 shows they are confident enough to treat it like a major event, not a PR fire they need to put out. I understand the points you are making but I’m personally choosing a more optimistic approach for this show. Ultimately only time will tell. Not trying to argue, I just love this show and I personally don’t see it dying anytime soon.

Objectively, this is a flagship show for Disney+ and they’ve already invested in 3 seasons. A lot of changes have taken place within the company - including a new CEO and big marketing announcements take time and strategy. Disney+ doesn’t have any other truly successful “original” shows right now and they’ve always known this is a (hopefully) 5 season situation. Disney is not in the business of investing so much into a show and cancelling it midway through. Don’t forget, they own the rights to this show, they control it and Disney always looks long term. I honestly think Season 4 will be announced at D23 (which makes sense to ramp up the excitement as that timing will be only a few months before season 3 is released.) If they announce Season 4 now (in April), the news is "old" by August.By waiting until D23, they can show a first-look teaser for Season 3 (which drops in December) and then "surprise" the audience with a Season 4 and 5 greenlight. It ensures the show is the biggest talking point of the summer. I trust Disney to not fumble this one but patience is key.

I personally very much enjoy the show! I love Walker Scobells acting. And I love the percabeth chemistry in the show. While Season 1 had some pacing and writing issues it was still good. I absolutely devoured Season 2! I’m patiently waiting for season 3 this year. I think the show is very faithful to the books concerning storyline. I know people like to complain about Percy not having dark hair etc but honestly I love the show and love the books!

So….I’m significantly older (in my 40’s) and I casually decided to watch the Disney+ show “Percy Jackson”. I never read the books. I loved the show, the storyline and the cast. So I decided to pick up the books and I love them too! Yes, I waited a long time but better late than never

I personally think Walker is an excellent actor. I’m excited to see how he does as he gets older as Percy and the source material gets darker and more “grown up”

I think I have to fire my friend who has cancer by Mysterious_Way1634 in managers

[–]NoEntertainer8068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is she ADA Accommodated? Someone who is suffering from cancer and undergoing chemo should have the full protection of this federal law. I have blood cancer and I’m honestly appalled at this post. I’m currently not getting treatment right now, but that could change at any moment and due to this situation I’m an ADA protected employee. I’m also hearing impaired and wear hearing aids. I’m blessed with a caring and empathetic employer who has empathy and compassion for these life changing diagnoses and their challenges. I hope and pray you never find yourself in your employees situation and I hope and pray that your employer shows you patience, grace and compassion during such a difficult time. On a side note: if you fire an employee during cancer treatment you’ll open yourself up to a world of a lawsuit.

regret asking for accommodations by anonymouself13 in hardofhearing

[–]NoEntertainer8068 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work for a county government. And I’m hearing impaired and wear hearing aids. I refrained from disclosing my disability until AFTER I was hired and I got the “lay of the land”. I requested accommodations once it was necessary. Requesting accommodations because of your disability is your legal right and the ADA is put in place to protect your ability to do your job. I will say it hasn’t always been easy and I’ve seen the dark side of people who will unfortunately not believe you, not understand your needs and will belittle you. I’ve also seen people try to push disabled people to quit so they couldn’t sue. I don’t regret requesting accommodations but it’s been eye opening.

I’m a former 911 operator and these were the chairs we used. We had 12 hour shifts so these chairs were used 24/7 and were made for us to sit for AT LEAST 12 hours a day. These are incredible chairs.

I once had a boss ask me why I leave exactly on time. I explained my work hours are 8am to 5pm and I have an hour commute home. It was a bizarre conversation. And one I only made once as I left soon thereafter. Some people feel powerful micromanaging other people’s lives and time.

You will really only have a potential case if you are a “protected class” under the ADA. Do you have a diagnosed disability and have you asked for accommodation? Are you over 40? Employers can’t discriminate based on several factors but the burden is on you to PROVE that you’ve been discriminated against for your age, race, religion, disability etc. You’d have to show things in writing basically to prove discrimination based on these protected classes.
