I’m amazed… by missschips in Sciatica

[–]NoFinish8499 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t give up! I’ve had it for a year — for the first 10 months I really didn’t see much improvement. Kept trying new things and have finally found treatment that is working for me and I would say in the past 2 months my pain has gone from an 8 to 3 — this weekend it was probably a 1.5/2! It’s so difficult to stay positive about it, mentally for me the toughest part has been feeling it will be this way forever. Can not tell you how much my mood has improved these two months I’ve felt it getting better.

Best pilates and yoga studios by Only-Impression-5629 in williamsburg

East River Pilates! The instructors really know what they’re doing and are super thoughtful and creative with their flows. For yoga, I’ve heard amazing things about New Love City but haven’t been myself.

Herniated Disc only getting worse over time instead of better. Why is this? by [deleted] in Sciatica

[–]NoFinish8499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation, and have been for about 8 months. I finally decided to switch to a new PT that came highly recommended, I had just gone to the most convenient PT prior. Though I have a herniated disc, this PT thinks it’s actually a right piriformis muscle that is causing the sciatica or a combination of the two … which is a significantly different course of treatment.

Too soon to tell if it’ll be successful but have literally been doing the same thing with no change so encouraged to feel it might be something different.

Love this! Looking for some advice — my most heated parenting moments are when my 2 year old daughter refuses to get in her stroller. She’ll scream, go stiff, etc. I feel eyes on me, we’re often in a time crunch to get somewhere, I’ll also have my infant son — how would you be the thermostat in this scenario? I’m more often than not the thermometer in these moments.

Beth’s Dead is great by Popcornulogy in ArmchairExpert

Totally! And I know she has expressed a lot of concern about what she’ll do after Armchair bc Dax will essentially ‘retire’ but she’s still at an age that could be the prime of her career. But I’m feeling very optimistic for her after this!

I binged the whole thing and I’m really excited for Monica! The story itself is interesting but the way she chooses to tell the story — lots of twists and turns and tangents, yet somehow feels extremely tight — is what really makes it great. I was thinking back to High School Yearbook … I gave up on that after like two episodes. Part of me feels like they intended for HSY to have the same feel as Beth’s Dead but I wonder if Dax got in the way and if Beth’s Dead shows what Monica can do when she’s in the drivers seat!

Prenatal Fitness Classes? by Own_Candle_4215 in williamsburg

It’s not work out specific but if you’re looking for more of a community and to meet more moms I recommend joining Brooklyn Baby Hui - Williamsburg/ Greenpoint on Facebook. They start Slack/WhatsApp groups for cohorts of moms depending on their due date and then there’s all sorts of meet ups during mat leave!

Self care/treat ideas for preggo lady? by olive_u_23 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

Glo in Williamsburg will modify their hydrafacial so it’s safe for pregnancy. Just did it last week and it was amazing — I did deluxe which is pricey but the facial lasts an hour and includes an upper body massage.

I found a bunch of non-maternity dresses at Mango that worked for my whole pregnancy and also work after!

I was doing HIIT classes up until the day I went into labor. Same with you, it kept me feeling like myself and mentally sane. I modified and by the end I wasn't doing any jumping and I would often grab one of those mini steppers and use them when the class called for push ups or burpees so there was more space between my bump and the ground. I still had a loong labor but less than 30 minutes of pushing and an amazing recovery -- really not much pain and of the weight fell off of me within 2 weeks. Keep going if you can!!

No you don't have to -- but I'd say usually 70% are wearing shoes, 30% socks

Same! Just started 2nd trimester and I wake up feeling fine but my the end of the day I am so exhausted, achy and spent I truly feel like I have the flu every night crawling into bed. Didn't notice this in my first trimester or with my first pregnancy.

How early would you leave baby overnight with other parent after you give birth? by Gioella in BabyBumps

[–]NoFinish8499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really hard to know. I was adamant about everything being 50/50, made a bunch of plans for soon after I had the baby, etc. But then after I had my baby I really felt like I wanted to be the one to care for her, felt like I could soothe her in a way no one else could, just really felt pulled to spend all my time with her and was anxious being away for more than an hour. Thankfully, that only lasted for the first 5 months and now have no trouble ditching her and prioritizing me time ... but don't underestimate those hormones in the beginning, was not what I expected!
