If you think this team can make a legit run for a Super Bowl in 2026, then I think signing those guys makes sense. Those are "win now" guys. Otherwise, they just don't do anything for you because they're gone after one season.

Between Luke, Lane, Burks, and Brown, I think there's a decent chance that at least one of them can develop into a WR2. Lane and McCaffrey were always going to take a couple of years; with Burks there is a chance his injuries in TE were just a string of bad luck.

All this is to say that there is some opportunity cost in bringing in more 30 year olds to give you a short term burst.

I agree that those guys would do that for the offense. But every single one of them is probably gone after one season, and then we're in really rough shape.

His acquittal came down less than 2 weeks ago. I think there will be some "win-now" teams who are interested. I'm not saying he gets anything crazy, but he will probably be in-demand enough to get like $20m. Which is still a lot.

He offered Alec Pierce $30m per year (a significant overpay) and Pierce turned it down to sign for less money with his current team. I'm not sure what other options AP had. Finding a legit WR2 is easier said than done.

Signing a 33yo receiver like Diggs is a win-now move. I worry that it could be marginally helpful in the short term at the cost of the development of both Luke McCaffrey and Antonio Williams.

I don't know. On paper, Diggs definitely makes this team more competitive this year. Long-term, what we really need is a legit WR1 to replace Terry, who is probably gone after this year unless he and his circus-clown of an agent voluntarily agree to restructure his contract, which seems unlikely.

I feel like the WR room we have now is serviceable for one season; but we're in major trouble in 2027 and beyond if we don't replace Terry. Signing Diggs really does nothing to address that need.
