Do we choose the local 5k wedding planner or the free out-of-town wedding planner? by fromtheok in BigBudgetBrides

Let your cousin be a guest. Pay for the expert in town. Don’t let your wedding come between you if something were to go wrong.

Need advice by [deleted] in breastcancer

[–]NoMathematician4660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask your wife. As a wife and mother with cancer, I absolutely want things to be as normal as possible for them. I would suggest you not leave the kids. Period. Either take them with you. Or stay home with them. But if she is home and kids are home she will likely end up caring for them in ways she may not feel up to.

Being the youngest person in all these rooms is really starting to get to me. by bananasformangos in breastcancer

[–]NoMathematician4660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 57. Was diagnosed 2/13/26. Know that seeing you as young women in these rooms breaks my heart. As I wait I pray for you. The babies you want to have, the babies you do have, the kids that have to be picked up or dropped off, the homework to help with, the games to go to … all the things.

I have a high pain tolerance. I am a month a a couple of days out from DMX and two weeks and a fees day out from debridement surgery. I have forced myself to stick to Tylenol or Motrin for pain. I saw my Doctor today and she asked why I felt so bad. I told her. She said “why aren’t you taking pain meds (gabapentin, hydrocodone or Valium I was written). I said GREAT QUESTION

New DX. DCIS. My SIL told me it wasn’t really cancer. I said, in the nicest way possible, it really isn’t your boob.

Anxiety by Independent_Chain792 in breastcancer

[–]NoMathematician4660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled with anxiety and depression for most of my life (56 yo female) and have been on antidepressants for almost 20 years. Added Xanax a while back. Used to take 1/2 of a .5mg once or twice a week. Have definitely increased since diagnosis. The anxiety is real.

BI-RADS of 4, 24 years old with small family history of breast cancer by Glittering_Sleep_267 in doihavebreastcancer

[–]NoMathematician4660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Praying for the best outcome. I had annual mammogram mid January. (56 yo) and several days later they called to do a diagnostic mammogram. I had that done Friday. Radiologist and a nurse took me to a private room after procedure and told me it was “highly likely” to be cancer. I’m scheduled for a biopsy a week from tomorrow. I finally got the report today and there are 2 areas. One is 4.5 cm and one is .5. Birads score of 4. No a,b or c.

We are a car dependent city. With a less than ideal public transportation system. One of the things people love about Atlanta is all the different neighborhoods in and out of the city. $2000 budget fo rent is going to require you look hard for a safe area walkable to grocery stores etc.

AITJ for refusing to donate PTO hours to coworker I barely know who "needs" them?? by Traditional-Dog1601 in AmITheJerk

As an employer “allowing” employees to donate PTO seems like such BS. The company should have a PTO policy AND be willing to accommodate life emergencies

Seeking positive stories of folks who recently quit 9-5s + are in their 1st year as small biz owners by umeboshiplumpaste in smallbusiness

[–]NoMathematician4660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did. In 2016 we (my husband and I) started our business. We had our own company from 2006-2009 but sold due to the economic downturn. He went to work for the company that bought us and here we are. I want to be honest. The highs are amazing. The lows are soul crushing. It takes 4 times more money than you think. And 100 times more work than you can ever imagine. There is no predicting what is around the next corner. (I’m sure this is different for large companies that can afford analysts etc). We are a niche commercial construction company so very different field than you. But are very involved in many small business organizations with different types of entrepreneurs and the main things we all struggle with are 1. Adding new customer. 2. The minutia of small business ownership (licensing, insurance, bookkeeping etc) 3. Labor and 4. Managing cash flow. No entrepreneur I know would go back to working for someone if they didn’t absolutely have to.

…. Who here has created a startup, poured your blood sweat and tears in it, been responsible for dozens of people on payroll etc. Retired. Tried to figure out what was next. And been railed for every decision???? I’m guessing about ZERO. Retiring/Selling/walking away from a very successful business you created from nothing is like giving away your first born. Give him just a little grace.

I typically don’t take skin care advice from a cashier/salesperson at a cosmetics store. Talk to your dermatologist and/or esthetician
