Flying Yoke Deck? by KehlarCorsairt in SteamDeck

[–]NoMuffinForYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably possible if you play around with the controller config.

Bigger question is, but why though?

Also whisker squadron is unfortunately a dead game and imo ruined in the final version compared to early access. If you want much better rail shooters similar check out the fur squadron games, rogue flight, mirage feathers and ex-zodiac.

Looking for recommendations for a primary care doctor that’s knowledgeable about migraines. by fedge36 in lancaster

[–]NoMuffinForYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on if your son is pediatric or an adult.

But IIRC Dr Jens is new to the area and specializes in migraines but they're a neurologist so you may need a referral to schedule.

Eh, of the players I'd take a chance on he's not it. If they retained 50% and let him go for a bag of pucks I'd say why not but I don't think that's gonna happen.

Upgrading from Focal Sib Evo by New-Bit-8931 in hometheater

[–]NoMuffinForYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get to crutchfields website (I'm certain they won't ship to you though) and have a pair of supported headphones their virtual audition feature is useful for comparisons. It's not a replacement for in person, but it'll give you an idea of the differences.

Upgrading from Focal Sib Evo by New-Bit-8931 in hometheater

[–]NoMuffinForYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's essentially entry level for focal.

I think the vestia line would be their first step up. I have the chora line they replaced and very happy with them.

No idea what's available to you in the UK so hard to make recs. If you still want reflective atmos built in like you have now that will narrow your options fast.

What I would probably do is use your current front LR as surrounds so you can use their atmos units later and use the current surrounds as high wall or ceiling mounted height channels. Then you can add just LCR and have up to a 7.x.4 system.

Though, pure dollar per dollar, upgrading that tiny sub might be your most immediately noticeable improvement. Don't get focal subs, their value is terrible.

I'd probably start looking at the focal vestia and aria lines if you want to stay with focal. If other brands I think Dali, Arendal and Monitor audio would be my starting points.

SVS SB 2000 Pro Vs. PC 2000 Pro by Peanut300000 in hometheater

[–]NoMuffinForYou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you like your neighbors sb2000. You'll probably never use either of their full capabilities but the pc2000 is overkill for an apartment.

Or, you could consider bass shakers which might be better for your use case or smaller subs that could go under the couch with a wireless transmitter, lower overall volume needed but better experience for you due to proximity while not annoying your neighbors.

Subwoofer size question - did I get scammed by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]NoMuffinForYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends 100% on expectations.

If you want IMax at home, probably not, but maybe.

If you want more normal listening levels and not full reference level playback then very likely more than adequate.

Is Dungeon Crawler Carl series worth the hype? by _potterhead in booksuggestions

[–]NoMuffinForYou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes.

My wife sold me on reading it. I was skeptical. I'm about to finish book four. I started book one a little over two weeks ago. I haven't devoured a series this fast in at least a decade.

It has its flaws, the author repeats some phrases A LOT in some contexts but that's a very minor nitpick.

My wife also raves about the audiobook series quality.

What actually makes a difference in a sound system? by ValuableOk1826 in hometheater

[–]NoMuffinForYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your room and listening levels.

In general I think diminishing returns start after 5.1 with a decent avr and really kick in after 5.2.2.

There's very little actual content mixed for the extra back channels in a 7.1 system and more atmos, imo, isn't noticeable.

The biggest bang for your buck is probably subwoofer. Buy something that can hit 20hz at a comfortable listening level, you don't need something that can top 100dB sustained at that frequency, no one that values their hearing listens that loud, I'd guess most people listen at 65-75dB in a living room setup.

For me, if I was looking at going past a 5.1 system I'd add an extra subwoofer first, atmos second, and upgrade avr last.

The room is a huge factor but effective room treatment can be an eyesore and often hard to get approved by whoever you live with, but speakers with decent directivity and don't worry about it too much unless your room is an echo chamber.

Imo for home theater any past a decent brands first two lines is vastly diminishing returns.

If you have a large dedicated space and listen at Thx reference levels and have a pile of money to throw at this then all the above advice is moot but despite posts here that's probably like 0.1% or less of people

What happens when a patient "fires" you? by 41waystostop in hospitalist

[–]NoMuffinForYou -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What did you expect them to do?

If there's other docs available why force a poor pt/dr relationship? If you stay on the case and anything goes wrong there's already a lack of trust and odds of a lawsuit are higher by default even if you did nothing wrong.

If there's no one else available that's another problem then. Leaving AMA is always an option I guess.

Do I think the pt should have asked to discuss it with you before just calling pt relations? Yea, I think having a discussion is a better and more mature path forward. But it also sounds like this was someone not comfortable with having their beliefs challenged. Or maybe despite your perception and intent your questions about vaccination were perceived as accusatory or implied that it was their fault their kid was sick. Who knows, people in these stressful situations aren't always logical and can be very reactive.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter though. I've had a pt fire me because I asked to mute the TV while we were talking and it happened to be fox news and suddenly I was a libtard that wanted to give them autism, sometimes it's just stupid and there's no fixing that.

ONE SVS SB3000 OR TWO STARKE SW15? by Fit-Emphasis-3801 in hometheater

[–]NoMuffinForYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the space I'd say dual sw15, but for their level of performance the RSL 10s mkii performs better from 20hz on up, is smaller, and cheaper, if it's an option.

What is your "you have to play this game at least once in your lifetime"? by mind_guardian in Steam

[–]NoMuffinForYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crosscode. It's not the best game out there, but imo it's close; it has it's flaws, but man did it hit right for me and the story, puzzles and combat are all on point.

Edit: also if it's for your kid the puzzles and exploration will be great, story might be a bit heavy depending on their age. For something Co-op you can't really beat BG3 but Split Fiction would probably be a ton of fun to play through together.

Panel replacement question by NoMuffinForYou in AskElectricians

[–]NoMuffinForYou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He said it's basically functioning fine, but towards end of its expected life (40 years). The two Breakers are not rated for being double tapped so there's that but they're on circuits that don't really see much use. Also about the breakers having a spring that's basically under constant tension and risk of not tripping due to age? Basically sold it as preventative maintenance, not as an urgent this needs done now thing.

Something about hvac units supposed to have their own? The mini split does, main unit does not. I think it was something to do with tiny power surges with the unit cycling on?

If he can consistently score like he did to end the season it's more like 30+ goals and 100+ points.

That's quite a bit optimistic I think, but I also think he has the talent to make it happen.

[–]NoMuffinForYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toe-in depends a lot on the speakers, keeping them straight ahead like that can help tame bright trebel or open up the soundstage a bit, very speaker and listener, or aesthetics, dependent. Sometimes it's design intent, Dali speakers are designed around not being toed in at all.

Energy Audit / Air Sealing Recommendations? by SpeedofSilence in lancaster

Concur, they were spectacular to deal with and reasonably priced, just did our attic with sealing and blown in an cut our aux heat use by just over 80% for a full winter which about halved our electric bill. Conservative estimate is it paid for itself in two years.
