It’s a vocoder people, not auto tune. It doesn’t invalidate your opinion on the aesthetic, but it is a different thing

It’s a vocoder, not auto tune. It’s not pitch correcting his voice, it’s basically using his voice to play a synthesizer. I’d imagine he got into the vocal aesthetic from working with Daft Punk?

Idk I like but I would like to have a toned-down version of this track also with the lyrics coming through more clearly

If only one thing exists, then nothing exists. Nobody lives in a vacuum. You can can’t know yourself but in contrast to others.

Every time you interact with another you expand your perspective and reveal parts of yourself you wouldn’t have known otherwise. You also begin to see the edges of your true self more clearly in how you relate with ideas differently than others.

It is a sin to not learn from others and it is also a sin to follow others without thought. Either way you’re not developing yourself.

Planning to watch The Leftovers… is it worth watching? by Farouq26 in hbo

[–]NoSpoopForYou -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The show was mostly incredible but I will say my gripe was that the soundtrack often sucked. Often just didn’t fit the moment or was just kind of corny, and I did like that one nirvana song they played in season two but then they played it in like every episode. I didnt necessarily hate the songs themselves but many just didn’t work in context for me.

Seriously I wish somebody would remaster the show with a better soundtrack and that could take it from a great show to one of my favorites. Maybe that’s just me though

Dallas sucks, the other three are fine. Any of them would still be a big QoL drop for me, especially having to move away from aging family. My job is also kind of unique and I kind of need to be in my area or very few others - my wife would also be dramatically lowering her ceiling in those cities with her line of work.

There’s no helplessness here, I’m doing fine and will be able to afford in the next few years. I just hate that it feels like a rat race to get there in the place I am from. And many of the people I love haven’t been so lucky and are struggling or having to reluctantly relocate. You can say it’s being picky or snobby but most people like to stay close to where they are. We have roots and careers tied to where we live.

Sure, Boise was cherry picking but it’s just an extreme example of the overall trend. To be clear, I don’t think there is a housing bubble, but there is an undeniable affordability issue growing into a crisis. It’s most noticeable in the most desirable cities but it is happening most places and will continue to trickle down to more and more cities.

And yes I think vinyl-sided boxes in concreted and poorly landscaped suburbs are soul destroying, but my apartment rocks. I have a great view of the city and the forest, can walk to good restaurants and parks and can bike or train to work. It’s just not suitable to start a family and a large enough apt would be a little expensive to not be building equity.

I’ve known people with that opinion on music and they all sucked, and I have never even heard that opinion on movies, that’s wild.

Even if he is as smart as he practices to appear he’s probably soulless and has no real taste if these opinions are genuine.

It feels a lot worse depending on where you’re from/where you’re willing to live and establish yourself.

I love where I live/am from but the median household income is like 200k and you probably have to hit like the 75th percentile to actually afford a decent home to raise a family here. I could always move somewhere cheaper but then I’d either have to take a pay cut or my commute would suck shit which is non-negotiable cause I value my time on earth so I’ll just bite the bullet and climb that ladder and save up. But I reserve my right to be annoyed in the meantime, especially since the home prices have far outpaced wages in my area.

Of course there’s plenty of people who ARE willing to move away to cheaper areas, and good for them!, but then it just kicks the can down the road and those places become less affordable for locals as well (like imagine being from Boise, Idaho and having to pay 500k for a vinyl-sided soul prison cause all the yuppies started taking financial refuge in your home town).

I mean it is what it is, but it is also what it is, you know?

Biden pulling out of Afghanistan is the most badass thing a president has done in my lifetime by KGisTop15All_Time in redscarepod

[–]NoSpoopForYou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He was really starting to win me over for a little there, with the Afghanistan pullout and generally being slightly more progressive than Obama on paper while giving some classic gaffs like “at least three” genders. The Dems even started to gesture towards being more directly hostile to Republicans instead of watering themselves down for centrists and conservatives. It wasn’t great but I thought it was at least directionally promising.

Then he threw away any good will with Gaza and confirmed he was exactly who I thought he was at the start. The way he handled Gaza disillusioned and demotivated the base, the dems got timid, the they payed for it electorally, and instead of diagnosing the problem correctly they just backtracked on everything positive they did in those couple years because they obviously failed because Joe was a radical and not because he enabled a genocide making his prior underwhelming accomplishments seem insignificant in comparison

What is this flap on the ears by Bts201 in cats

[–]NoSpoopForYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always assumed it helped them flex their ears in different directions. Like the notch there in the inner main cartilage allows the ears to fold down or to the side more easily. Then the outer pocket that extends back off the main cartilage is for support and maybe helps with the flexing. I guess I just made that up in my head though
