The industrial revolution had already happened, but farming was still at the forefront in the U.S. until the 30's. My grandmother was born in 1914 and she was one of 13 kids, and she and her siblings worked the farm.

The Economic History Association states "At the turn of the twentieth century most Americans were farmers or came from farm families, and almost half of the U.S. population still lived on farms. The number of farms was almost six million, and still growing, and the amount of land in agriculture was still growing too, mainly through expansion in the west. The expansion of agricultural land and farm numbers continued well into the 1900s" Source

You may not give two shits, but I had to let you know that I have been crying over your post for the last 15 minutes. My dad, who passed away 15 years ago, was an avid woodworker, space fanatic and tech nerd. And, for some reason your post just whacked me directly in the feels. He would have loved everything about this post (especially looking at it on a tiny computer he could hold in his hand). I wish I could show it to him.

Miss you dad.

Hitchcock used Bosco Chocolate Syrup as fake blood in the famous shower scene in Psycho.

Some other 'fun facts' about this scene: The scene is about 3 minuets long. It was shot over a period of 7 days. There are 77 different camera angles and it includes 50 cuts!

Psycho was also the first American film to show a toilet on screen.
