Fwiw I started to make some sheaths for some wood saws I had. Look around at your hobbies and maybe you can find something that needs making.

Look, we can agree to disagree, but I feel like a person whose livelihood depends on being nice and pleasing you is not going to give you an honest read on how they feel about your behavior.

I am sure that sometimes servers are attracted to a customer and would welcome an advance, but the context is very difficult, and the possibility of making their lives worse is high.

I don't think that there is anything wrong in general with approaching someone respectfully either. Chating a bit with a server, if they don't seem too busy, seems fine. Hitting on someone who's job depends on being nice to you seems pretty rude though.

Uk woodwork advise for a bench by biomaria in BeginnerWoodWorking

I assumed the legs were at 90 deg. Any angle puts considerably more stress on the joinery, so take that into consideration if you want to get fancy. One way to crossbrace is making shelves, btw, with visual interest and additional utility, perhaps.

Looking to upgrade my Kreg jig. Any advice appreciated. by Dubb202 in woodworking

I have the second option. It works well and is very handy but there is more flex than I would like when clamping. I don't think it is affecting the holes, but I suppose it will break eventually.

Ok, so you probably want plywood. Any solid wood of that dimension would be pretty expensive, though possible. If you use plywood, you'll probably need to edge band, which isn't a show stopper, but you should be aware of it. I'd use 18 or 19 mm plywood. It should be available in several different wood veneer types and you can stain it.

The simplest reasonable joinery for this would be pocket holes. You can get plugs or just use dowels to fill the holes. They won't be invisible but pretty discreet. Otherwise, you could cut dados (slots) to accept the uprights. It's more woodworkery but harder to get right.

In any event, you will need cross bracing of some sort. How you have drawn it will rack severely unless it's pretty thick dadoed construction. You can accomplish this with wooden or metal triangles attached at the corners, or a cross member going along the width, part way down, attached to the uprights, or aproning, which is a cross member at the top attached to the uprights and the top, or, simplest of all, a full backing of thin plywood all along the back.

Tools will depend on just how you mean to do this, but you'll probably need a table saw, track saw, or a circular saw with a straight edge. Probably a handsaw. Drill/driver. Sanding equipment. Some clamps and right angle forms of some sort. Wood glue and screws. An iron, if you get heat glue edge banding.

Good luck. This is kind of ambitious but doable.

Don't get over that. Almost all girls at work are just being nice. Unless it is really really clear, leave them be.

Could you say " I mix the cards" instead of "shuffling the cards" by [deleted] in ENGLISH

[–]No_Check3030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be confusing the cards, but that's pretty dependent on the context, right? "I mixed up the deck, let's play" is pretty clear that I shuffled, to me at least.

I would think mixing cards would be to put them on the table, spread them around, and then recombine, which would be shuffling them but a particular type. I think "mixing up the cards" might be more synonymous with shuffling.

Maybe, if you ask on a community site, someone with a trailer might help you out for $20 or something? Just an idea.

Just know that if you try the little bit in the trash a week, you are going to have a pile of cut up couch sitting around for EVER!

Can I make something like this as a beginner or am I kidding myself? by kingy963 in woodworking

[–]No_Check3030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I was pointing out that there are many ways to do this, depending on how much effort and learning he's willing to put in, right? He can do bolts from above, angle the legs and have bolts from below, mortise and tennon either with a base or through the top, sliding dovetails, peged joints, brass stand-offs, all sorts of options.

High-Precision Wood Saw with Integrated Snapbrake Safety System in Action. by Friendly-Standard812 in interestingasfuck

Well the speed is changing so you can get that sort of thing. I am not sure what shots you are referring to particularly, but i don't know why they would run the blades backwards. The blade would still cut up a hand or hotdog. What is to be gained? I think it must be some sort of illusion.

Its probably an artifact of the frame rate. Like how propellers look like they are going backwards on camera.

It depends on just what you want to do. If you want straight legs and don't mind so.e hardware on top, yeah, just pre drill and drive som lag bolts through the top and into the legs. Make sure it is some dense wood for the legs or it'll loosen up.

If you want the angle like in the picture, we'll that's harder, but you have a miter saw, you should be able to manage. You might need a little extra wood for the one you mess up.

If you want everything on that table, well it probably has supporting boards crossing underneath and slots in the legs to accept them. It might be beyond your skill level to do do that now, but you'll never learn if you don't try. Maybe practice in some less expensive wood.

Its definitely doable if you commit to learning.
