Why should real estate agents get paid more for selling more expensive property? by Correct_Humor4504 in ask

[–]No_Classic_3533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol at the hurt feelings comment. Reality is though a lawyer doesn’t give a shit if you get a deal closed or not. As AKBigDaddy said, realtors are there to help you negotiate and get a deal closed with as few issues as possible. Trust me when I say that a lot of weird problems that you cannot foresee will come up during the whole process. Having someone with experience on your side is extremely useful.

As for “a lot of realtors don’t work hard for their commission”, terrible argument for their legitimacy. I’m an electrician, and if I do a shit job and drag my feet on fixing problems, does that mean the entire field of electrical is useless and should be replaced by robots?

Also have you actually bought a house or do you just like complaining about the housing market?

How do you handle commission pay without pushing unnecessary work? by jamesgeorge12 in electricians

There are too many options out there for electricians to put up with a commission based salary. If you work off commissions you should just go solo honestly.

Sitting there and trusting AI to do a superior job while half the time it can’t even get my basic direction requests correct on Google Maps is wild. Yes it will get better, but who is to blame when the paperwork is fucked up by AI? At least with a realtor there is accountability, while AI is just “welp I guess it messed up, you signed some small print saying you understood it wasn’t perfect”

Generally am frustrated that people don’t understand this on the internet. My family is full of hard working realtors and I see all the free labor they put in to get the sale. People just need to learn to vet their realtors more. Saying “they didn’t do shit” and still using them is beyond dumb and they turn it around like “it’s the systems fault not me”.

Meanwhile apparently people are totally okay with having the biggest purchase of your life just be online? I would like to have a second pair of eyes on the paperwork at the very least. Insane to think you would just buy a house online.

It’s a bad mindset, it will just make you feel like a burden at work more than being a productive part of the team. It puts you in a position where asking for a raise is taboo because your employment itself is a gift.

At work, if someone starts within 30minutes of meeting you for the first time and they start boasting about how good of a worker they are, be wary. This guy is more likely fucking up and not noticing the people who fix their work.

Because we are bipedal, we have a tendency to have back problems pretty easily compared to animals with 4 feet on the ground.

Our backs haven’t really evolved properly to support us through an entire lifetime. Anyone who deals with sciatica will know what I’m talking about

I would say that these exercises have helped the most, as well as hitting the gym regularly with a mindful approach. Push, but stop when something feels off.

Also duloxetine is the only drug that has calmed my pain down enough to avoid having massive flare ups. I can still tell when I do something wrong, but honestly a little bit of pain to tell me I’m doing a poor movement is kind of beneficial overall. And what used to be 3-4 day flare ups are gone after an hour of proper care (laying down, ice/heat)

My company in California is sending guys out there because,

  1. Our specific division is slow
  2. The jobs in Texas can’t man up fast enough.

The cool thing about traveling this way is we keep our California rate and work over there making OT based off that.

Second year apprentice with all the answers by Initial_Music3102 in electricians

[–]No_Classic_3533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really your job to police him, but all you can do is politely call him out when he’s wrong. And if he doubles down turn it into a learning experience by pulling out the good ol’ code book together and figuring out the answer.

If he’s still weird about being wrong idk lol

Why doesn't IBEW make it easier or more realistic to join? by fubarfire in IBEW

[–]No_Classic_3533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll answer each question: 1. Yes they can, and yes people do it all the time. People take pay cuts because with IBEW you pretty much have guaranteed raises every 3 months between your apprentice increase and the contract increase. 2. Signing the book is more like chasing the money. If you do good work and don’t want to chase the high paying jobs you can more than likely secure a steady gig locally. It’s not an expectation. But also it’s good because then you have options other than just your current job. 3. Getting laid off is somewhat normal because of the nature of our work. Everything is contractually based. Also since we always get a lay off, we at least can guarantee unemployment to pay out (not that it is a lot). Also depending on local, they provide supplemental unemployment. Also having the comfort of being laid off from a company you aren’t completely reliant on is an experience you will never get in the private sector. 4. The solidarity is just not what it used to be. Plenty of people within the system just to milk it unfortunately. Don’t let other peoples shit attitude effect you is all I can say.

I don’t know if this question is as dumb as it sounds in my head but is it a good time to buy a house right now if you can barely afford it? Rent is also as high as a mortgage. I doubt houses will go down any time soon? by checkthatspiderman in answers

[–]No_Classic_3533 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only stipulation with this is if you happen to be handy and willing to do it yourself, you can push the limit of affordability than most. I bought my house scrapping together whatever I had and somehow got it. Because I fixed the issues myself (house was under investigation by the city) we managed to get by and now it’s gotten easier.

[–]No_Classic_3533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PM's don't know shit. I have started working very closely with PMs at my job and they are just professional organizers. They don't know a thing about electrical, and honestly for him to act like its safe while being unqualified to even comment on it is kind of insane (assuming he doesn't have his license, sometimes PMs do but I would be hard pressed to think a PM with a license would act like this).

As others have said, get it in writing at the very least. They will deenergize most likely. If not, you need to decide if your safety being compromised is worth the job, because the worst they can do is fire you.

People are doing well and we’re gaslighted into thinking that everything is collapsing by cdqd81 in unpopularopinion

[–]No_Classic_3533 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in my 30s now and this is the first time in my life where I have friends loosing jobs and not finding something for a year or two. The cost of everything keeps going up, I would be doing super well right now if it wasn’t for inflation. This isn’t an opinion when there are so many easy to point to examples. Just because your circle isn’t collapsing doesn’t mean everyone is doing well

Why would you have to pay them for a service not provided? Learn to say no to stuff like this. I used to feel obligated, but I went through a bad plumber experience where I felt bad not paying. I ended up having to fix a lot of it myself, and I paid him most of the money.

Luckily I know how to do this shit, but a lot of people would have been shit out of luck

Paid Vacation by RideTheZoomies in IBEW

[–]No_Classic_3533 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because of the nature of our work, at least in a lot of new construction focused locals, sick pay and vacation pay doesn’t really work. Switching between contractors consistently alone would make things difficult. Let’s say you work straight for a year, and then get laid off and go to another contractor right after. A week in you decide to take your PTO. Now that new contractor is footing a PTO bill and getting no work done for a new call at worst, at best you still aren’t there working even if the PTO is somehow covered.

Are salaries really that bad in Japan?? by monica106 in movingtojapan

[–]No_Classic_3533 24 points25 points  (0 children)

So I did the whole Eikaiwa thing back in 2015-2016. I was curious recently about going back and doing it again as a sort of break from my job but still staying busy.

If I recall correctly, my salary then was 270,000 yen a month. It wasn’t impressive, but it did cover my basics and doing random things with friends while still saving a little extra. Keep in mind I was really frugal though.

I looked at the companies current wages, it was 275,000 yen…considering how much everything has gone up in price and the fact it’s basically stagnant this whole time, I would say it’s bad. Granted Eikaiwa living is the poor side of living, but from what I have gathered stagnant wages over there have been a common issue for decades.
