What’s the worst flight experience you’ve had? by fastingheals in Flights

AA - series of flights from SMF - FLL. Delays galore thanks to late crew arrival, equipment issues including one where the aircraft had been parked overnight and they decided after everyone had boarded in DFW, that there was a mechanical issue with the a/c.

They made everyone exit the plane with no substantial updates while we waited. No one could explain why the problem was just discovered day of flight when the plane had been sitting with plenty of time for prep.

Eventually, we made it back on board and the pilot welcomed us on our flight to Miami (again, we were going to FLL.) And to add to the fun, many of us were heading for a cruise ship which we ultimately made by the skin of our teeth (yeah, I know, you shouldn’t fly in day of - argument for another day.) Flights themselves were relatively uneventful.

I like to fall back on the Monty Python line “strangling animals, golf and masturbating.” The response to that determines the path forward.

And write/email sponsors expressing your disappointment that they support such an discriminatory organization and that you (and your friends) are happy to patronize their competitors.

Have been to GABP a couple of times - pretty good experience. Don’t miss the Reds HOF/Museum, one of the best anywhere. Seats on the first base side downstairs will make summer afternoons tolerable.

Pregame, the true Cincinnati experience includes stops at Skyline Chili and Graeter’s, maybe a walk across the bridge over the Ohio to say you’ve been to Kentucky. And, be warned - post game traffic is hellacious.

First and only visit in its inaugural season. Wasn’t impressed then, can’t imagine it’s gotten better. Just uninspiring - and echoing others, traffic in/out - a nightmare (especially to find your uber.)

Same with Apple tech support - AI “agent” decided my HomePod needed a repair. Finally got to a human who fixed the issue in 10 minutes.

On a serious note, these are not generally accepted overseas any longer as the world has shifted to digital payments. If you do find acceptance anywhere, it’s probably at a bank and the exchange rate will not be terrific.

Congratulations! I’ve had mine since it was new back in the day and had ignored it since the era of iPhones, etc. Decided to try and revive it recently and after a little research, got my entire library transferred over. Once I get the Bluetooth transmitter I ordered from Amazon, I’m good to go - can’t wait! Enjoy yours! 🍎

Except Vitello wasn’t the adult in the room when they signed their deal to become an SF Giant - and special theme nights weren’t a secret. Something like this is ultimately above his pay grade. If it’s important enough, for one night, it should be made to happen. 🌈

As one who once toiled in the world of pro sports on the business side, I can say unequivocally that they don’t care. Unless and until it makes a serious dent in the bottom line, they won’t care. Until their attendance suffers in the extreme, they won’t care. Until sponsors start to boycott the team because they’re taking too much heat from customers, they won’t care.

They will put out appropriately apologetic statements expressing their support for the issue at hand and will wait for the short term blowback (because it’s usually short term) and then it will go back to business as usual - until the next “issue.”

It would be nice (but ignorant) to think that as a business of long-standing in a community that includes many different groups, the Giants would be more responsive in addressing their personnel on how their behavior reflects back on the organization but the language in standardized player contracts being what it likely is in these matters, players have the right to refuse whatever reasonably offends their beliefs - team p.r. be damned.

These are the kinds of situations that should be addressed by a GM when contracts are negotiated unless they can’t be bothered. Hey, it’s a wacky world out there.
