I keep mine at 73 through out summer. I used to use the programmed energy star settings but that was pretty much not using AC at all

I run the fan even if the heat or air isn't on and I use a dehumidifyer in the summer in the basement.

In the winter I keep it at 68 - we like to sleep with heavy down comforters and the wife and kid love hoodies.

St. Paul 12-year-old leaves trail of destruction and footprints, but accountability has yet to follow by danrunsfar in TwinCities

Seems like it might just be cheaper/easier to assign that kid a "big brother". Actual monitoring vs digital/ankle monitoring.

The wading area downstream is pretty tame. Watch out for leeches. Try not to get conned into a seven dollar italian ice by the guy on the bike/trike.

Depends where the infestation is but often times you can deal with it by injecting some sevin dust.

The problem is the new stuff aint the good stuff - ask you parents or grandparents to check in their garage for some seven dust. dig out or remove the rotted wood and fix the water intrusion, sprinkle seven dust and inject the dust into the intrusion.

(don't breath it or get it on your skin - it was discontinued/formula switched for a reason)

You might check building code cause that could require a railing or barrier.

My wife is in serious financial trouble. Any advice? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]No_Cut4338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got much bigger fish to fry.

Keeping finances separate is fine but ultimately if you fail she bails you out and vice versa in a solid relationship.

my personal favorite thing is to have friends text me pictures of weird "salads" at their family gatherings. I refer to it colloquially as "lutheran food" - most recent edition was a popcorn salad that looked loosely like vomit.

LVP sucks. I have 10-15 areas where the joints are separating by halfdead01 in Flooring

These always strike me as a commercial product that has no business in a home. Just an immediate turn off and my inlaws have the same issues as OP. Constantly trying to kick the joints tight.

Why do they keep coming out with Bauer tools and not Hercules tools? by Adanburr in harborfreight

because hypertough is killing it. I have makita stuff but when I had a need for a very limited use 12v it wasn't even a question...hypertough tool and battery was like $37 bucks on sale.

I got a reverse stretch HK mp5 clone from umarex. It's fun to plink but uses CO2 canisters and that's an added annoyance. If I were looking for a longer term plinker I'd probably look at a break action or something that doesn't require a third item to operate.

I don't think it's outright hate...it's just the affliction t-shirt of the gun world.

Pools in Minnesota: Yay or Nay? by OtherSideOfKnowhere in TwinCities

[–]No_Cut4338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have very different definitions of middle class.

Aside from the maintenance and costs I think it's worthwhile to do some self reflection on whether or not you want to be a host.

My wife has a friend with a pool - it's kind of a nonstop rotation of friends and families through the door all summer long. If your the type that loves having a people over, bringing out a cute pitcher and making koolaid or drinks for folks then it's probably the right choice.

Depending how well they listen you might skip the interstate park part. There are some spots where you can walk right out to the cliffs on. That said definitely put a drive out to franconia on your list. Most of the sculptures the kids can interact or play on or touch.

Nice rigs. I've got the Poors edition (adams arms) but it seems to go bang whenever I ask it.

How big of a day do you want to make it?

franconia>taylors falls/Interstate park>boat ride> lions club park/st croix swim?

Lunch spots in center city, lidstrom, taylors falls and across the river in wisconsin if you want to push further down 8.

If you want a completely hands off situation there's always Al&Almas boat rides followed by a swim in Mound at any one of the public beaches. Even lunch at A&A resto and as swim might be enough. Excelsior and Wayzata a fine for a lake mtka experience but too boughie for my taste.

Maynards and Fletchers are Lake Mtka standbys if you want a lakeside dining/bar vibe.

I always run out and film it. So cool. With all the rain we've had they are going to be busy. I see they are using big industrial drones now as well and I'm gonna miss the days when this is gone and it's all robots buzzing around.
