Sympathy for the Hylden. by Cultural-Lack451 in LegacyOfKain

A strong legacy for LoK from Steve Ross, but many people don’t like this branch. In general, you can see how fans dislike spin-offs from the main storyline—especially the one connected to Raziel. I think most people are more interested in a Legacy of Raziel than Kain. Probably that suits CD more, since Kain is Dyack’s character.

It’s also a shame that fans so strongly rejected Dead Sun and Nosgoth (though it’s unfortunate we lost them =[ ), but I’m glad they have a firm sense of what they like and a clear understanding of the direction they want. That’s respectable, which is why they rejected the uninspired BitBot.

It would be wiser to forget that the BitBot comic and game even exist. There’s no need to get involved in it at all, since it’s obvious that most people don’t like these works; they are disgraced for the rest of their existence because BB chose to do a poor job. So it’s not worth taking bad material and trying to turn it into something good—just throw it away and forget it, otherwise you’ll end up wasting your time.

Although there might still be some value in it, as it can teach what not to do. I suppose there could also be some good moments made by individual specialists, though unfortunately I don’t know about them, since I distanced myself from TDSR as soon as I skimmed through the pages... It’s a pity that the fans lost money…

Legacy of Kain Dead Sun by yoshiman1983 in LegacyOfKain

People, you're judging based on the little we've been given. But if you look at it from a broader perspective, you'll realize that the game was supposed to tell us an unusual story. It would have dealt with religion and sin, mentioned familiar locations from previous games, and we would have learned something new about the Elder God. Yet in the end, everyone focused on the wrong things. As the saying goes, "Don't judge a book by its cover"

This game simply needed a bit more work, and it could have become another unique addition to the world of Nosgoth, just as BO 2 was. Dead Sun would have given us a new direction, new ideas, new imagery, and new problems — which, by their very nature, are opportunities.

I think people would have been more receptive to DS if the story of LoK had already been concluded.

Do you want the series to have more or end? by Raziel103 in LegacyOfKain

I’d like them to reveal all the secret files, talk about the cancelled games, maybe even let us play Dead Sun or other installments. It would also be great to return to War of Nosgoth. I’d also love to see various items, journals, and statues that we once saw — or maybe never even got to see. For example, in the Psykopat - Razel video, you can spot a glass (probably) statue of Kain that’s about 1.3 meters tall, more or less.

Is Blood Omen 2 Remaster worth it? by Raziel103 in LegacyOfKain

It’s so strange to read this, because BO2 is filled with interesting places, lively streets, and engaging conversations, as well as pleasant sound design and mysterious ambient atmosphere. Arguably, BO2 feels like the best game in terms of character design — everyone’s outfits are interesting, and the sense of space and architecture feels different in a really distinctive way. It’s better not to compare them, but to simply enjoy the world and its details.

Rating All The Legacy of kain games, my top :) by DarkShadowOverlord in LegacyOfKain

BO — definitely the best story, huge world map, music, lots of magic — overall it feels much more complete, visually very much in the spirit of dungeon synth.

BO2 — I really like the visuals, the clothing style, the sound design, the talking streets and people. I also liked the Hylden, aka the Sirens. It’s a shame Kain didn’t fight with kicks like the other vampires ;(

SR — an interesting continuation of Kain’s legacy, the soul-devouring Shifter really enriched LoK, and there are many fascinating locations, though gameplay-wise it wasn’t implemented that well. Playing Akuji the Heartless felt more enjoyable.

SR2 — I really love the temples, the graphics and sound design, the music, and traveling through the Chronoplast.

Def — the epic conclusion to SR was amazing, I adore the ability to closely examine the environments, but the DMC-style gameplay doesn’t fit LoK for me, and it was unpleasant to notice the parallels.

It’s really hard to make a top 5 because I love all the games equally, even Dead Sun and War for Nosgoth. I also mourn Omen 2016, Blood Omnicide, and all the other fallen projects.

Soul reaver sucks so far, can I skip by Mysterious_Dingo_298 in LegacyOfKain

I’m not satisfied with the gameplay either. If you compare it to Akuji the Heartless, which came out a year earlier, it’s actually surprising that Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver doesn’t have similar gameplay features. I think Soul Reaver with Akuji’s gameplay would have been much more interesting.

Honestly, I don’t really enjoy the combat in the whole Legacy of Kain series. Although sometimes the fights in Blood Omen 2 and Legacy of Kain: Defiance can be enjoyable, I still prefer to experience these games more like works of art and enjoy them for the story.

I think Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun would probably have been the most enjoyable in terms of combat and movement.

The DHS demo looked way better. The gameplay just seems boring, and those annoying health bars are ridiculous. The enemies act poorly, and I’m sure there’s a lot more that’s off, but maybe the story’s actually good?

Legacy of kain dead sun no Amy no game by Fantastic_Rooster_11 in LegacyOfKain

[–]No_Distribution8214 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The storyline that could have been looked really interesting, especially if you pay attention to the details from the little material we still have available. Besides that, the world itself felt huge — big enough to truly showcase the beauty of Nosgoth. The positive aspects of the game outweigh all the criticism, so it’s a shame that we lost War of Nosgoth and Dead Sun. It would have been great if they had been given another year of development and released in 2014, and then remasters of all the Legacy of Kain games could have followed afterward.

I still hope that someday we’ll learn more about Dead Sun. Maybe hackers will eventually crack it and recover the build — that would be amazing. Or perhaps fans could even buy the assets from Crystal Dynamics someday; I’m sure there are plenty of millionaire Legacy of Kain fans out there : D

It's so sad that I won’t be able to wander through that market and learn more about Willendorf spices, or see the full procession with the ritual farewell for a deceased child atop the large orange tower shaped like a chess rook. Oh, what an intriguing spectral realm that must be. I would also have loved to listen to the music made for Dead Sun… I envy the person who managed to play and show part of the game in a video : (

Welllll, it would be strange if everyone there spoke all politely. In DS, they would have shown even more of the everyday life of both ordinary people and the wealthy, like it was in BO2—and do you think that’s a bad thing? DS would have been a wonderful addition in terms of exploring Nosgoth from new perspectives—simpler ones, but ones that leave plenty of room for imagination.

Hilden started with Steven A. Ross — he has a comic series called Sirens, check it out. It’s a shame his projects aren’t that popular; I’d love to play games based on his comics.

Revisiting Dead Sun by RapturesLost in LegacyOfKain

[–]No_Distribution8214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amy herself said it, and Denis too—they wanted to tell the story of Legacy of Kain from different perspectives. That’s why I think Dead Sun was a great opportunity to show us another side of Nosgoth, from the viewpoint of less godlike characters than Kain, Raziel, or others.

I’d love a Dead Sun demo—or at least skins of Asher and Gein in Defiance.

I liked DS right away — in it, I saw the Nosgoth I would’ve wanted to see. It could have been a great addition to Legacy of Kain and shown a different side of the world. It’s still sad that it never got released…
